Objective: To develop team possession and quick transition play (attack/defence)
In an area 25 x 25 yards, we play with 2 teams of 6 players. 3 players try to win the ball from 6 opposition players in one zone, while the other 3 players wait in the other zone.
The team with 6 players try to keep possession and are limited to 2 touches. When the defending team win the ball, they must pass to their teammates in the other zone (using unlimited touches) and then all playesr move to that area to try to keep possession of the ball.
THey are not allowed to move until one of their 3 teammates has touched the ball. 3 of the opposing team then also move across the opposite zone to try and win the ball back.
1. The three defending need to press collectively to win the ball (one closing down the ball carrier with the others marking or preventing the possible passes being made)
2. When possession is won, the players need to react quickly to run across to the other zone and provide support to their teammates to maintain possession
