DESCRIPTION

Rational: Jumping is a low velocity, high intensity event which places significant stress on joints and muscles (Boyd, Ball and Aughey, 2011). Also jumping produces the hamstring to contract rapidly to produce maximal force. This is a common MOI for a hamstring strain (Lorenzo et al, 2011).

Drill: First part the player will complete two legged jumps over the byline and then take a step back over the line and complete another jump.

Progressions:

  1. Progress to jumping over a small hurdle (Progress that to an large hurdle)
  2. Progress to plyometric work. (jumping over two small hurdles to start, progress to large hurdles)
  3. Progress to jumping over one hurdle and then onto a box. (Progress by increasing height of the box)
