DESCRIPTION

Pitch is divided into thirds, with the end zones near the goals narrower than the middle third.

Then divide the the pitch lengthways (between the goals) into equal thirds.

Players can only enter the end zones to receive a pass or by dribbling.

Once the ball leaves the end zone or a goal is scored the players must leave the end zone.

No more than 3 players from the same team in the same area of the pitch at one time. Stop the game every time this happens until the players get used to moving out when they need to.

COACHING POINTS

Progression from Shield and Pass and/or Through The Gate drills.

Encourage players to shield the ball until the safe pass is available.

Encourage take-ons and dribbling in "safe" areas of the pitch, i.e. where losing the ball will not immediately lead to a dangerous situation.

Encourage wall passes (one-twos).

Focus on movement by the passer, as soon as they have passed the ball.
