Stationary Dribbling
SET-UP: Each child standing on a pancake with a basketball. Have pancakes facing each other like in the diagram. Go through:
Non Bouncing Movements First (30 seconds - 1 minute each)
- Strength test (child hold’s basketball with 2 hands whilst coach comes around to hit it)
- Ball Slap’s (slapping the ball and switching hands)
- Body Wraps (head, stomach, legs)
- Figure 8: Rolling the ball between both legs using the floor
- 1 Clap 1 Catch practise
DRIBBLING TECHNIQUE - Knee's bent, feet apart, dribble.
Bouncing Movements: (30 seconds - 1 minute each)
-Right hand dribble: Start dribbling at Hip level then move lower to ankle Level (count out 20 together as a group)
-Left hand dribble: Start dribbling at Hip level then move lower to ankle Level (count out 20 together as a group)
- Crossovers (switching hands while dribbling)
Before moving to the next one, for 1 minute have kids crossing over while they have to say the number your holding with your fingers (forces them to dribble with there head up)
- Sitting down and dribbling (Right hand, left hand and playing the drums)
When finished, balls in the bag and HI-FIVE!
