This dibbling drill focuses on awareness while dribbling. The objective is to touch as many cones as possible while dribbling in one minute by keeping your head up and knowing where the cones are, while also being aware of the other classmates that are dribbling at the same time. All of the students are to line up on the base line, or if there is not enought room you can use both base lines or the sideline, and on the whistle they dribble around the court and touch as many cones as possible.
progressions- you can start with just the basic dribble and go. Then you can have them touch each cone with a different hand, for example touch with the right and then the left and then the right, so that they are forced to dribble with both hands. You can also say that they can't touch a cone more than once so then they are forced to travel further while dribbling and can't just go back and forth between two cones.
Incentives-Set a goal before each round so that the students have something to work toward and a goal amount. Or you can reward the students that get the most cone touches within the time.
double dribble- At the end of the time have all student hold the ball and remain in an athletic position guarding the ball, pivot and find a clssmate to pass the ball to. This will help them learn the double dribble rule and never driblle the ball once they have stopped.
