Shoulder to Shoulder Chase Drill

DESCRIPTION

- A passes ball to D

- D moves forward to receive the pass and lands on both feet to open up both pivot foot options

- D waits for A to arrive while in proper triple threat position

- A arrives, faces same direction as D and pushes shoulder to shoulder on D

- D performs poper cross step dribble drive and moves half speed down the court in the lane while A provides shoulder resistance

- D "breaks" from A at free throw line extended and accelerates (change of speed) to the basket for a layup

- A follows D and must get redound before the ball hits the floor

- A and D reverse roles and drill continues the opposite direction

- Set up can be on Right or Left side of the court

(Run the drill cross court on side baskets to minimize standing around)

COACHING POINTS

Catch ball in the air, land in balanced and ready position

Cross step dribble with proper pivot footwork

Dribble with proper technique on the outside of the body
