I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
Hi,I coach an U17 - Div 2 team, very strong team of girls.I want to introduce zone defence into our play. Can anyone please recommend some drills, or explain how zoning works or any advise or layouts would be great. Thanks!
How do I break a zone defence, set up over our defence transverse line and dropping back into the centre third?
How do I set a defensive zone (ie GA WA C WD GD) and teach the girls to defend the zone they are in and not go for the ball?
Would like to know a set play in how to beat a wall zone in the centre.
How do you train to get past a zone defence. Kind regards Madeleine
How can I teach my U14's zone defence and how to break a zone defence?
I coach a group of 10 girls (8 yrs old) in the grade above netta (we call it Sub-minis but same rules as netta) I rotate them 4 def 2 c 4 attack (eg 3/4 each or 1/2 if they are center) I am having problems teaching them spaceing and who to lead into which spot etc. After our game on the weekend I thought I'ld try a different tack (was a bit loathed to do this as they may take it too literal) but I am wanting to split the court into "zones" for each position as a guide for them eg Center gets the middle "track" right down the court WA one side GA the other etc. has anyone tried this, will it make it worse any further suggestions......?????
Hi my name is dala I was wanting to know the best way to set up a zone defence on court using all my players and how to show and explain in easy terms the best way to zone defence the other team both ways. Can you help diagrams would be helpful as wellRegards Dala -submitted via email
Defending the Throw In. On the weekend, the opposition had a set play (on some occasions but not all the time). GK was throwing in. The GD, WD & C all gathered between the centre and the 1/3rd line, closer to the 1/3rd line. Each of them broke at different times. 1st GD leading left, then WD leding right and C down the middle. This week if they do that again, I think I will not have my GA/WA/C next to the girls, but 4-6 ft in front of them waiting for the leads on the angle to watch the leads and the throw in. Any other suggestions? we play that team again this week!!
I played netball last night against a team that used zone defence. It worked very well for them, but I'm not sure how to try and stop them and get the ball through.
