Netball: with 7 players

Does anyone have a drill to encourage under 11's to come forward for a pass rather than asking for the overhead pass all the time as they are 'running away' from the ball in their haste to get to the circle?

I have found that my players worked well as a group and also really enjoyed a Quiz about Netball (both rules and history of netball in general)but I have run out of questions, I usually only finish our training sessions with one question for each member of our team and use any the following week that they got wrong so they are learning at the same time. If you have any ideas please let me know as I have searched the web and every other resource I can find, Some of the questions I have used are How many seconds can you hold the ball? How far away do you need to be before arms go up to defend? How is a short pass measured? Where does a ball need to be touched first after a centre pass? Name 2 examples of Good spartsmanship? Name the 7 Positions in a Netball Game How many players on a Netball court during a Game? (trick question, usually andswered with 7, keeps them on their toes) In which Country did netball begin? "help, 1 handed shooter". i need advise on what to do with my GA, i have just started coaching U13's and have found that my GA shoots 1 handed from the shoulder all the time and she is very stubborn when i try to tell her she needs to practise shooting from above her head because the defence players are tall and put there hand over the ball stopping her from shooting all the time. help! what can i do.

Game 3 this week and now down to 5 players with the GS GK C out with hand/arm injuries. I still expect all players to turn up to practice.Only 3/8 turned up last week and I wasn't very happy.Others need to fill gaps these players could help.Now I need to rethink training.now that I have requested everyone come, what drills can I do that are ball less.Unfortunately due to age and high visibility of the courts at lunch asking them to visualise would not happen. They are young and I don't want to jeopardise healing for them. It is a shame this has happened early in season as I do think we had an opportunity to do really well, never mind. Always next year

I need some ideas for training nettas. Particulary on the positions on the court.

I have a team of mixed age girls from year 4 to year 5. 7 of the players are playing together for 2nd or 3rd season together with 2 of these players having low ball and motor skills. 3 of the players are in their first year, 1 of which demonstrates good ball and motor skills, the other two with beginner skills. What is the best way to rotate the players for games to ensure they are all developing? The section we are playing in does not require mandatory position changes at half time, although I have been doing this to develop their overall skills, is this right? Thanks in advance, Mel

I have a strong team of u21's who play brilliantly, except for running into one another space. Is there a drill which focuses on clearing out before re-attacking as a group?

I'm coaching a team for the first time on my own this year. So my question is what do I start with and include in the first training session? They are 13 year olds and I'm unaware of the ability.

A netball player (Goal Defence) who was the anchor in the team was not recognised as a great team player and now that the season has started and I am the coach for this team, I see the kids would not pass the ball to her and is very indifferent towards her. This is coming from the parents of those kids. This little girl, with her dence skills drove the ball to other side and the team made their first score at interschool netball. She is under my wing now, how do I approach this situation and my response to the mum (ex netball captain) who has taken the time to watch every netball game.

I am coaching a little net set go team (set tier) with ages 5-8. Usually I coach high school girls. A mum of one of the 7 yr olds just messaged me with this: "i was just wondering If you have any tips to help us get Miss S enthused about netball, she isn't enjoying it but wants to "give it more time" (her words)." We only have a half hour training session before we play as no one else will coach but this is the only time I can do training and there are players from another town so this is the best option for everyone. We play a couple of warm up drills/games and practice 1 skill ready for our game. I have covered the basics of passing and footwork so far. None of my team have ever played before, but 4 of them did the net set go - net tier last year. The girl has only played 2 games so far as we have had a bye. So far she has had a go at positions GK, GD, GS, GA, and WA. She is the tallest girl in the team and so tends to get a fair amount of the ball. Any ideas on what to suggest to this mum?

I have 10 players and need to roster them equally, does anyone have a formula

hi guys. i am the coach of a year 6/7/8 primary team, this year i picked an extra large squad of 13 girls as we are a small town and didnt want to turn anyone away. i have 2 players that are by far the standouts of the team. at beginning of season i explained due to numbers no one would get full games and two people would stand down per week which has so far worked well. however now the parents think i should be playing these two girls all the time for full games. the two girls will leave for college next year and i fear giving them all the game time will discourage my young up and comers and i will then be left with nothing next year. i also think some parents are unaware if i do this it will be their children that are on the sideline. is it better to have many kids playing some netball than just some playing lots??? please help
