Turn and Pass Movement - Netba...

Players work with one ball in pairs inside a square area. The player without a ball (Red 1) sprints across the box to receive the ball on the other side. Player 1 then turns as they receive the pass. Red 2 then runs across to receive ball on the other side etc. Make sure players are balanced and are in control before they make the next pass. The worker must not move across the square until the feeder is ready to release the ball.

Player 2 feeds the ball to Player 1 before sprinting forward to receive the ball. Player 2 then returns the ball to Player 1, sprints onto the third line and then back to receive a 2nd high pass and then feed onto 3.Repeat

Groups of 6 with one ball per group.Player 6 starts with the ball, with player 5 starting to move in to receive the ball before passing the ball onto player 1. Player 5 goes behind player 1. Player 1 then passes the ball to player 6 who has made a run to receive the ball.<b>Progression -</b>Having fed out, the player defends the next pass i.e Player 5 passes to player 1 and then defends the pass from player 1 to player 6.

Players take it in turns to run through the defender's areas as pairs. The player without the ball leads into the space. Working together they should try to pass and move, maintaining possession of the ball, from one side to the other. If players successfully pass and support each other to the other side without losing the ball they pass the ball to the next pair and then join the back of the queue. If the ball is intercepted though the pair who lost the ball become the defenders and the original defenders take the runner's place at the back of the queue.

Working in threes with 1 ball per group. The 1st player has their back to the others throws the ball up and over their head, turns and catches the ball before then passing to the centre player. The centre player receives, rotates and releases (3 Rs) to the next player. The third player then receives the ball and rotates before restarting the drill from the other side.

Players work in pairs with 1 ball. The feeder stands static and feeds the ball to the worker. The worker runs towards the feeder to receive the ball and then passes it straight back. They then run away from the feeder before turning and running back for the next pass.

Set up: Players get into partners. One ball between two. A wall.<br /><br /> Attackers to be standing in front of a wall. Feeders to have the ball and set up at varying distances away from their attacker. Attackers start with 'fast feet' and on coaches command they drive towards the feeder and receive the ball in the air. Attacker to send the ball they received to the wall and follow with a drive to receive the rebound. Attacker to turn and pass a long ball back to the feeder.

Players work in pairs with 1 ball, standing 2 metres apart. The worker drives forward and touches the ball in feeder's hand. They then angle their body to the right and move back 3-4 steps. The feeder places the ball on the worker's right hand side. The worker retrieves the ball and is then passed back to feeder.

Example GD clears and runs in a crest WD moves to receives ball from GK and passes the ball to GD GD then passes the ball to C The Centre should take up a position just over the transverse line in the centre third. This will prevent congestion in the goal third and give the WD and GD space to bring the ball through and consequently the ball carrier has an option of a team-mate ready to receive ball further up the court. The WD and GD are set up as shown. One of these players will cut across the other (taking her opponent with her). This creates space for the other player to drive into with the opponents chasing. The player who drives across (this is called clearing out) continues to run in a crest shape and offers for the next pass. The subsequent pass may well go to the Centre and by now the ball should be 2/3rd up the court in 3 passes. If the timing is correct the ball should travel up the court in a straight line. The team has successfully converted good defence work into an exciting attack.

Divide your group into three equal groups.Play starts with the ball at the bottom end of the triangle, while the two players at the other end will come forward ready to offer to receive a pass.Once the ball is passed, the player who didn't receive the ball should drive to be in space to receive another pass.Finally the player who started with the ball needs to make a move to receive the pass.Once all three players have received the ball the ball is passes to the next group of players, ready for the drill to start again.This drill is ideal for teaching players to offer a passing option to their team-mates.

Players work in groups of 4, with 1 ball between them. The first player runs towards the centre The player with the ball throw up a high ball for the receiving player to jump and receive. The receiving player catches the ball, and turns in the air, so they land facing the opposite direction to the player who passed to them (turning 180 degrees). The receiving player then passes the ball, and follows their pass. Drill continues.

Standing 2 metres away from the wall the 1st player throws a strong pass against the wall (flat and fast), drives to the ball and meets it in the air -receiving rotating and releasing (3Rs) to the next player for them to do the same.

Feeder 1 passers to player B while Player A runs around feeder 1. Player B passes to feeder 2 then runs around the feeder. Feeder 3 passes to Player B who has driven from feeder 2 and receives the ball in the middle.

Set up: Full court space, 4 x mini hurdles, 8x short ladders, 10x cones.Players are divided into 2 groups. Players start at baseline.Two players, from the front of each line begin by jumping over the mini hurdles (set up at right angles to each other).They then run to ladders set up in a cross formation. Action 1: Forward steps into each square.Action 3: Left turn: Forward steps into each square and backwards to return to the middle. Action 3: Right turn. Steps in and out of squares both directions to the middle.Action 4: Stright weave with both feet in each square. Players run towards cones set out in a zig zag formation across the middle third space. Players run from cone to cone in a zig zag direction.The focus is on taking off the outside foot. Players sprint to the end baseline then turn and sprint back to where they came from.

Split group into 3 equal teams. Ideally 6 per team. 1 team is the attackers, 1 team are defenders, 1 team is resting off the court. Split court in half. Half of the defence and attack are restricted to defending half of court while the rest of the players are restricted to attacking half of the court. 1 A starts with the ball on the baseline. Attackers have 5 minutes to get the ball to the other end of the court and score as many times as they can. If the ball is tipped, intercepted or dropped the ball is taken back to the start. After 5 minutes, defenders become attackers, attackers come off to rest, resting team become defenders.

hi, i am new to coaching and our girls are only 7,?

hi, i am new to coaching and our girls are only 7, this is their first season and are playing Netta Netball which is a slight variation to netball, ie, lower goal post, how do i teach them to get in front or to get the ball if their girl is a lot taller, they need to learn defending and getting in front to get the ball but dont know how to explain to them.
