Ball Handling Circuit

Set Up: half court area, 12+ players, 8 balls. 4 stations each with 1 worker and 2 feeders with a ball each. A wall is required at station 4. Station 1: 2 feeders, each passing short sharp balls to a worker who is running side to side receiving and passing the ball. x8 reps and then worker to move to next station. Station 2: 2 feeders, feeder 1 delivering a loose, short pass, worker to receive and pass back, then drive back for a long pass from feeder 2. x8 reps and then worker to move to next station. Station 3: 2 feeders, Short pass from feeder 1, short pass from feeder 2, medium pass from feeder 1 and then a long pass from feeder 2. x8 reps and then worker to move to next station. Station 4: 2 feeders, two short flat passes alternating between feeders, one long pass from feeder 1, worker turns and passes to the wall, catches and returns the ball to feeder 1. x8 reps and then worker to move to next station. When workers have been to each station, swap with a feeder and repeat.

Christmas tree warm-up

Players stand at opposite ends of the tree in two lines. One player from each line runs from one side to the other at a time.

Warm ups

Circle Edge Driving Drill

4+ players set up on half court. One stationary feeder to set up in front of the centre circle with the ball. One defender to hover just inside the shooting third. Two attacking players, one from each sideline, run to meet in the middle, high five and then run out in a "V" to space. Defender to pick up either of the attackers. Feeder delivers the ball to the free attacker. They are to then pass to the attacker with the defender on them. The attacker needs to work hard to receive this pass on the circle edge. Play the ball back with the defender receiving the next pass and back to feeder.

Cut and drive

AUDIO DISCRIPTION ON Set up: 1 ball, one third space, 1 feeder in between 2 lines of partners. Two players to drive out straight from baseline to top of the circle (approx.) they turn and drive out on a V to the side channels where the feeder passes ball to one of the drivers. The driving player who did not receive the ball is to cut back to the top of the circle (middle channel) and receive pass from their partner. The partner now without the ball cuts back into the middle channel to receive a straight pass from their partner. Ball is returned to stationary feeding player.

Attack

Cut and Drive

10+ players 2 stationary feeders, one on baseline and one around centre circle. 2 groups of 4+ players line up on either sideline. 2 players run from both sidelines, high five the opposite player in the middle of the court and then run out forming a "V" shape with their partner facing a feeder. Feeders pass to one of the pair facing them. Player that does not receive the ball cuts back and drives towards the other feeder, receive a pass from their partner. Ball is then passed on to the opposite feeder.

Movement

Set up: 1 ball, one third space, 1 feeder in between 2 lines of partners. Two players to drive out straight from baseline to top of the circle (approx.) they turn and drive out on a V to the side channels where the feeder passes ball to one of the drivers. The driving player who did not receive the ball is to cut back to the top of the circle (middle channel) and receive pass from their partner. The partner now without the ball cuts back into the middle channel to receive a straight pass from their partner. Ball is returned to stationary feeding player.

Hour Glass Passing

Both W1 and W2 simultaneously receive the ball from the feedres, as shown in the diagram, and return the ball to the same feeder. Then both W1 and W2 move around the cones in a figure of 8 receiving the ball at each cone from a feeder W2 will always be one station behind W1

Passing

Pass, Get and Takeoff

Pass and Get Set up: 5+ players, 1 ball, 1/3 space Two lines of players (one behind each other) face a stationary feeder. Front two players from each line drive out on a diagonal towards sideline. Feeder delivers ball to one of the drivers. The player who did not receive the ball is to drive towards the player with the ball and receive a pass. The player who received the first pass the drives towards the stationary feeder to get an ‘intercept’. The player who intercepted now becomes the stationary feeder for the next two players who drive out. Both of the other players involved go to the back on the line.

Passing Into Space and Drive

AUDIO DESCRIPTTION ON Set up: One third, shooting end of court. One ball 5+ players Two players stand on base line with the ball. Three stationary feeders assembled as a triangle facing the shooting circle (two either side of circle and one at the transverse line). Description: Players on base line: Player closest to feeder passes the ball to standing feeder at side of circle. Both players drive out from base line. Player who passed the ball drives around the feeder who was just passed to (diagonal drive). Other player drives towards the stationary feeder near transverse line (straight drive), they need to prepare to receive a pass. First feeder catches and delivers a pass to the forward driving player before they get to the stationary feeder. The driving player with ball now passes ahead to the stationary feeder at the transverse line. The first initial driver has driven around first feeder and aims for a cross court straight drive to the final feeder. Stationary feeder at transverse line delivers a pass to the initial driver which will be received mid court. Initial driving player passes to the last stationary feeder in front of them and continues to drive around them. Other driving player would have driven around the transverse standing feeder and drives straight back towards base line and will receive a pass from the last stationary feeder midcourt before sending the last pass to the other driving player.

Attack

Zig Zag- Finding Space and Changing Direction

Set up: Half court, 3 stationary feeders, 3 balls, 1 attacker, 1-3 defence. Feeders are placed in an extended triangle formation. Each feeder has a ball. Attacker drives out from transverse line to first feeder where a pass is received, attacker returns pass and moves around the feeder. Attacker does so with the other two feeders in the extended triangle formation creating a 'zig zag'. Attacker works her way through the 'zig zag' in both directions without errors.

Sometimes the ball is delivered near a line. These drills can help with ball handling skills and balance.1. In partners, one feeding one working. Worker is to stay stationary and receive passes from the feeder in an arching movement. Worker is to stretch to reach the ball and extend as far as they can.2. Partners work along the baseline. Worker to have one foot on the line. Passer to deliver a ball outside of the court, worker to recive the ball whilst stay inside the court. 3. Worker runs along base line and recives a pass on the go. Passer delivers the pass just outside the court. Worker to recieve the ball at a stretch and pass back to feeder.

Coach starts with the ball between 2 lines, all facing the same way. Coach delivers an "anywhere" ball in the open area in front.First players at the front of the 2 lines run out as a pair and compete for the ball. Unsuccessful player cuts back and drives in for the next pass before returning to the coach.

Train Your Brain Group practic...

Set up in 2 lines facing each other. 2 working players out of the lines back to back facing the line they have come from and with a ball each. Working players pass back to their lines then run behind the front player in the line (one with the ball). They are then to drive on a digonal to the middle of the 2 lines and receive a pass. Working players are now facing each other with a ball each and pass with left hands to each other receiving the opposite ball.Players then pass a high ball to their right (the line they have come from) and drive to the left (other players line) to intercept the other ball before it reaches the line. Players to join the back of the line and a new working pair to start in the middle.

The Star Passing - Netball Dri...

This practice encourages concentration and awareness. 3 players (A, B and C) stand on the cones making the top three points of a star (they are static during the practice), the fourth point in made up of a queue of players in pairs. The first pair start. Players 1 passes the ball out to player A and follows their pass, running around them. Player 2 runs staright forward and receives the pass from player A in the centre of the star. Player 2 then passes out to player B and follows their pass running around them. Meanwhile player 1 has run back into the centre to recieve from player B. Player 1 then passes it out to player C and follows their pass around them. Player 2 runs in to receive the pass from player C in the centre Player 2 then passes the ball out to player 1 and player 1 passes it to the next pair. They both then join the back of the line. Rotate the static players as and when.

4 players 1 ball 1 player is the worker 1 semi active defender and 1 feeder and 1 player catching the pass. The ball is fed into the worker who has to pass the ball left or right past the dfenders to the player behind the defender. After the player has caught the ball she passes it to the original feeder to start the practice again.

Pair your players up, with 1 ball per pair. The player that is the worker receives 3 passes to the left over an increasing distance, then repeat with 3 passes to the right (worker runs back to centre each time.) Encourage the worker to try to land on their outside foot.

8+ players, 2 balls, half court space. 1. Balls start in opposite corners.2. Player at the front pass the ball diagonally across the square and joins the back of that line.3. The player who receives the diagonal pass now sends a straight pass to the line opposite them and joins that line. 4. Passes are alternated.

- Have your team get into 4s with at least 2 different colour cones- One player will be the worker (GREEN) - set up a cone either side of the worker (approximately 2m away)- One player will stand directly opposite the worker (ORANGE) and will pass the ball back and forth with the worker (GREEN)<br>- The other two players (BLUE) will have at least 2 different colour cones each and will stand either side of the static player<br>- In turn each BLUE player will hold up a coloured cone, the worker will have to call out each colour- If it is correct each player will take a step outwards, put the cones back behind their back and pick another cone- Repeat until BLUE player have reached the outer cone (Red)

Split players into 4s inside a coned area. The attackers (white) start with the ball on the outside of the playing area. To begin with White 2 feints a movement one way and then sprints in opposite the direction (to begin with use a passive defender). After white 1 has passed the ball, she then has to do a feint dodge and run in opposite direction to receive the ball. Try to get 3 / 5 passes in a row before possession changes.

Then immediately become a defender for the person who now has the ball. The person now at the front of the line, with the ball now delivers a pass to players who have driven out on a diagonal and the drill begins again.

WD/GD Interceptions Group prac...

Feeder, 2 attackers, 3 defenders. Feeder starts play from the Centre Circle. The attacker runs forward off the third line into the middle third to receive the ball, marked by a defender. They then pass a lateral ball to the feeder who has moved out to the side, where there is another defender acting as a 3ft mark. The attacker runs into a space in the end third to receive the ball back. When they have received the ball again they pass to an attacker in the circle, who is also marked. The defender in the circle (GK) can help the other defender if they get shut out. However if both defenders get drawn to the attacker then the feeder can pass straight to the GS in the circle.

Set up:4 corners set up2 feeders (static and with a ball each) Two players work together and drive out from opposite lines on the same half.Players straight drive to meet in the middle and touch (high 5).Both players then V cut towards direction of the feeder.Feeder delivers the ball to any one of the drivers.The driver who does not receive the ball becomes the attacker.The attacker must react and cross cut through court to receive a long pass in the opposite side of the court from the partner they have been working with who received the ball.Attacker to then return ball to the feeder on the opposite side to where they started.

I want to put together an ankle strenghtening circuit-any tips please? I need it to be about 20 mins long and to really help with the prevention of the injury thats most netballers have painfully experiance. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks xx

I am just wondering if anyone has a good fitness lesson for U.13's. I've got a new team with some super fit girls and some very unfit girls.
