I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
I have just started coaching an under 11 team and don't quite know where to start. I have a some girls who have never and others who started last year. I have limited time before each game to do training. Does anyone have some suggestions on where I should start? There seems to be so many things they need to learn and not enough time to teach them.
How do you teach circle defenders how to handle defending both shooters when GD or GK is out of play outside the cirlce?
I have a group of approx 20 people and I am looking for some tips how to plan out a session with some sort of game at the end? thanks in advance
Hi, I'm co-coaching an U13 team. The players are a mix of experienced, but mostly inexperienced players, with a couple of players who are really talented (these are two of our inexperienced players). All players are new to each other. The girls won every game at the district grading days and we were upgraded two levels. We are now in round 6 of the competition and the girls have lost every game and we just lost from the team that was below them on the ladder. We've had a couple of injuries and one was quite bad in round 4 requiring surgery which has shaken the girls as well. They are starting to lose heart and their game is deteriorating. How do we keep them motivated?
I have a tall girl who is a great shooter, but she struggles in getting free for the ball. Can you suggest any drills to help her with this.
Hi all, My daughter is about to start coaching for the first time and it's expected she'll have a group of 10 years olds in C or D grade. I'm struggling to remember what her capabilities were at that age and she's looking for some suggestions for drills to start off with until she gets a handle on where they're at. Is anyone currently working with kids around that age/ability bracket? Does anyone know if any of the weekly drills are aimed at beginners/introductory levels? From the ones I'm seen, they're aimed at an intermediate level so I'm assuming some of the games would be OK, but most of the drills would be beyond their capability. Thanks in advance.
I just wanted some help planning a netball practice for 8 year old girls - about 1/2 - 45 minutes - the girls are just starting out
I need a high performance training session for netball players. Can you assist?
how to apply progression
When shooting, can you jump so both feet leave the ground? Asked using Sportplan on Mobile
When a shooter lands and then steps in to shoot, lifting grounded foot, do GK/GD have to have already been 3ft from grounded foot, or can you come in after the 'step in' and defend the shot, as long as you're 3ft from the grounded foot?? I think I'm allowed to come in later but kept getting pulled up for it tonight. I'm sure having to be there first with hands up before said step in, is an old rule...
they are shooting from too far away and are missing a lot of goals Do I take them back to basics? they are 12 year old girls. We lost the grand final by 3 goals and there has been a team change for the Spring season.
I am not sure how to teach my girls how to defend a shooter who catches a pass with the splits and then sets up to shoot. Can anyone assist. Girls are aged 15 & 16yrsthanks
I'm a short GA (5'3) and I can shoot decently from mid range and short range (although mid range is where I prefer shooting from). I'd like to get better at long range shooting, but I'm not really sure how. I can get in long goals sometimes when I'm practicing at the post but during training with a defender (who is tall), it is a very hard task. During matches, it's closer to impossible, although I've gotten the occasional long goal in because the defender decided to stand for a rebound instead of marking haha. But I'd like to be able to get these goals in consistently [over a defender] â not just because it was a lucky shot. Any tips on how? It'd be appreciated.
How can GS and GA help each other in circle when defenders are tall, intimidating and high contact (ie putting hand on ball when setting up to shoot, putting hand over face). Can GA stand between GS and GK to give GS a clearer shot?
If the defender has her 3ft against the shooter and the shooter then takes a step back is the defender allowed to move in a bit or stay where they are? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
HiCan a shooter rebound the ball( from a backline throw in) off the post and jump onto court, catch the ball from the post rebound and then shoot? It seems crazy to me but I have been told that this is now allowed?
My year 6 girls are experimenting with stepping in to shoot a goal. I'm finding this to be a disadvantage as they are unbalanced on one foot and therefore inaccurate. The defender is not required to step back, keeping 3 feet from the grounded foot so the shot is put up into the defenders hand. I am a centre court player so I'm not sure what advice to give.
We're about to play a team who's GD is well over six foot! Any advice on getting the ball in the net without her intercepting? Our GS and me are fairly small.
I know the normal technique for shooting in netball keeps two feet on the ground, but I would just like to know whether that would be a foul if you jumped as you took your shot? Thanks
