2 lead drive

minimum of 8 players set up in square grid as shown in picture Ball is passed round the square with players timing their move so that they run onto the ball Players should lead out to then change direction to receive the ball

Passing

Set up: Split players into groups of at least 7 with 1 ball using the goal third. Number 1 starts with the ball. The Drill: Player 1 passes the ball to number 3. Meanwhile number 2 holds her defence and turns to receive the second pass and shoots at goal, with number 1 moving in for the rebound. Player 3 can call as she receives the ball for number 2 to turn Player 2 must hold firmly and try to remain directly in between the defence and number 3.

Set up grids 5 m by 5m. 3 player with 1 ball in each grid Player with the ball passes to the player moving to the empty cone.

Decision making

Outside Roll

Blue player 2 starts with the ball and the other two players set up a few meters away, with the defender marking B1. When everyone is ready: B1 should make a forward run and then perform an outside roll, spinning 360 degrees before then running into space and receive the pass.

Getting free

Receive from the left and pass straight

Players set up two sets of lines which are facing one another. The two lines which start without the ball both sprint into the middle of the area to receive the pass from the left. After receiving the ball they then pass it straight over and follow their pass. The front players in the two lines which don't have a ball now both drive into the middle to receive the pass from the left and then throw the ball straight over and follow their pass.

Shooting

In groups of 6 or 7 set up as below. Before receiving the ball the player must roll before receiving the ball. Ball should advance through the court in a straight line.

Run ahead

Set up 2 lines of cones of, with 5m across between each cone and line. Players with the ball start on the right channel and the players without the ball in the left. Player without the ball runs ahead to the cone just in front of the cone the player cuts to the other line to receive the ball. On receiving the ball the 2nd player in the left channel starts to run and cut to receive the ball from this player. etc last player receiving the ball walks it back to the start.

Shoot and Drive for the rebound

Player 2 moves into the circle to receive a ball from blue player 1. Blue 1 immediately moves in to take up the rebound position with the defender (green player 1) and battle for the rebound. If the shot is put up from A, the rebound position is the area marked by the semi circle. The player must guard this area from her opponent.

Example GD clears and runs in a crest WD moves to receives ball from GK and passes the ball to GD GD then passes the ball to C The Centre should take up a position just over the transverse line in the centre third. This will prevent congestion in the goal third and give the WD and GD space to bring the ball through and consequently the ball carrier has an option of a team-mate ready to receive ball further up the court. The WD and GD are set up as shown. One of these players will cut across the other (taking her opponent with her). This creates space for the other player to drive into with the opponents chasing. The player who drives across (this is called clearing out) continues to run in a crest shape and offers for the next pass. The subsequent pass may well go to the Centre and by now the ball should be 2/3rd up the court in 3 passes. If the timing is correct the ball should travel up the court in a straight line. The team has successfully converted good defence work into an exciting attack.

The WA and GA will start in a stacked position, so one player will be on the line (GA in this example) and the other player approximately 1-2 meters directly behind (WA)Both the WA and GA will offer for the centre pass, however the player on the line (GA) will lead the movementIf the GA chooses to go right, the WA must go in the opposite direction, so they would go left as shownThe WA receives the ball from the COnce the WA has received the ball the GS will time their movement and drive out of the circle at an angle to receive the ball from the WAThe GS will then do a 'give-and-go' with the C, who would have drive to the top of the circle and landed circle edgeThe GS will receive the ball from the C and can put up a shot<br>ORThe GA can receive the ball from the GS under the post

Best way for GK to throw in to GD from the goal line?

What is the best way for GK throwing in to GD from the goal line.  I find GD ends up receiving a pass just a short distance from the GK. When we could make so much more of the space.  but I can't seem to stop her running straight at the GK. Thanks AP

Suitable time frame to do a drill at training?

In an hour and a half training session, I want to cover 2 to 3 defence drills, 2-3 attacking drills and also have stations set up for goalies, mid court and defence to do a drill specific to each. How long should I allow for each drill, and still fit in the hour and a half training?

Ideas for improving focus and calming our defenders?

My defenders often loose focus and try to concentrate on too much. They watch the ball, their player, where the post is, our player, there wings, put up wrong arms, run past player etc. Our drills are spot on, and training is generally very good, but when we get into a game they loose confidence, panic and and look like they are being turned inside out. I am Father coaching my Daughters Netball Team & I wanted to use a different set up when Taking the Centre Pass to Start ,so I need to know where the GA,WA,WD & GD are allowed to stand when a Centre pass is being taken?DO they need to stand at the line as normal or can I change it up a bit?-Say one player up at line in the very centre of line and one player standing or running around behind in the centre of their Third??
