I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
My defenders (GD, GK) are having problems with the 3 feet distance. They are either too close or too far away and they will not jump. Please could you suggest any practices that will help my players
What is the best way to stop a team coming down the court that is very fast, playing man on man does not work, they are all used to playing basketball and getting the ball around players, need a way to slow them down, any ideas
I am wanting to assess the fitness of the players in my new team, to find a candidate for Centre. I want it to be a game so they don't know What I'm doing. Any suggestions?
How do I get one of my players to hold the ball longer? She has awesome speed and stamina on the court but she doesn't slow down to throw the ball. She is an adult. What can I do to help her?
My girls play in A grade for under 10's and they were doing very well until last week where every player was picked up for stepping more than once. They played terribly and obviously lost confidence with their feet so their passes were lobby and they were not thinking about where they were passing. We practice drills at training but I need really good drills help them intuitively feel their grounded foot vs moving foot. Can anyone suggest anything?
Looking for a simple drill to teach Under 9's defensive play without contact
I organise a ladies netball group of varying abilities but mostly beginners. Despite constantly telling them to slow their play down, they are determined to pass the pall on as soon as its in their hands often resulting in sloppy passing. Any suggestions on how to slow the pace down and hopefully, improve their passing?
My team has trouble communicating during games, but not in training. How can I encourage and improve their communication on the court? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App

We are playing in n a grand final this week and the opposition has a very tall GS and holds very well. I am thinking of getting my defences to double team her but wanting to know best way to teach this & also what's the best way of stopping the GA (just getting WD & c to try & block her getting in the ring) any thoughts on best way to beat a tall shooter. The girls are 13 but played a lot of netball. Thanks
One of my players stalks every time she gets the ball, she doesn't have good balance, what drill apart from teaching her to slow down could I use.
When a player ( one that has played Netball for some years ) receives a pass how do you stop her from taking a giant step and taking time to control balance, instead of a shoulder width step and have control stright away?
Serial steppers at 14 years old, how do I stop this terrible habit? Half my team step and have been playing for many years.
After my opponent release the ball can I use my body but not arms to block in front of her so as to prevent her from going to the front?( In centre third) If the opponent just run ahead and crash on the defender, is it a contact?Or in fact the action of the defender preventing the attacker to run towards goal third is obstruction or a rule called" causing contact"?
How do I coach my team to successfully convert turnovers? What are your favourite drills / pieces of advice?
We have a few new kids to netball this season and they are developing well but still step continuously. any goods drills or hands on training ideas would be great. thanks
I am a defender and I am not very fast. I usually verse a fast attacker so what is the best way that I can get an intercept off her at a centre pass? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
Need some help on a dispute on a decision I made during a match I was umpiring recently.A player was tying her shoe laces in my half of the court. A goal had been scored in the half I was umpiring. Centre stepped in the centre circle whilst this player was still attending to her shoe lace. So in affect she had not got herself on side and then gone off side she just did not get on side.I blew the whistle to start play as the centre was ready. As the player who was in my half and was off side, I blew for offside. Can I have clarification on this please, was I correct, or should the other umpire have called this offside even though the player was in my half?Secondly, a reputable umpire told me a couple of months ago, that the umpire blowing the whistle to start the game at a centre pass, controls both sides for off side? I.e. All players that go offside at the centre pass, to the left and right of the centre circle. I was not suite about this so need clarification on that too. Thanks in anticipation.
At a recent game the opposition umpire said that we no longer do toss ups and rather rudely overruled my team's umpire. I have not been formally involved in umpiring for about 5 years and had not heard this - toss ups were still in the rule book when I did the online umpiring test earlier this year. Can anyone enlighten me?
