How do you get players to communicate on court?

Does anyone have any tips / ideas / drills on getting players to talk to each other during game play... not just calling for the ball when making a lead but directing play too? I have a team of mixed experience but when they play in a game you can almost hear a pin drop! Any advice?!

Defending the Throw In

Defending the Throw In. On the weekend, the opposition had a set play (on some occasions but not all the time). GK was throwing in. The GD, WD & C all gathered between the centre and the 1/3rd line, closer to the 1/3rd line. Each of them broke at different times. 1st GD leading left, then WD leding right and C down the middle. This week if they do that again, I think I will not have my GA/WA/C next to the girls, but 4-6 ft in front of them waiting for the leads on the angle to watch the leads and the throw in. Any other suggestions? we play that team again this week!!

Does anyone have any sample session plans that they?

Does anyone have any sample session plans that they have used for their level 2 coaching, i don't want to copy them, just want to see how much detail i need to put in. I have to do 4 linked sessions based on one either attacking or defending principal and show progression in each session. Any help would be gratefully received. From - a new coach!

Girls aged 10 chasing their partners on defence and not watching the ball?

Hi I have a team of 9/10year olds, when the ball is coming through the court and they are on defence, they have started chasing their partners and not watching the ball. At some stages today, they had their backs to ball, and no idea where the ball is? Any good drills out there, that work on marking the partner, but watching where the ball is too?  Looking for those intercepts. They have started facing their partners, Thanks.

Is this type of defending an advantage or disadvantage?

I play school and state netball as a GK/GD, when my other player is defending the GS or GA, I hold on to her defenders leg/hand for an extra lean. Because I'm quite larger and taller than most girls and already have a pretty good lean, when I ask my defender to hold me so that i am closer to deflecting the shot, she uses two of her hands and her body strength to hold me. My coach told me not to do this because she believed I wasn't allowing myself nor my other player to get an intercept or rebound, even though we had gotten most rebounds and had gotten a few intercepts with this technique. Is this an disadvantage or advantage to us?

Training ideas for a single team with noone to practice against

Hi,What can a team of 9 people do to train, with noone to play against? Often there are 7 people at training so we find that we don't have enough people for alot of the drills or because there is an odd number someone gets left out. What are the main things we should work on? We also need some ideas for training people who don't usually play in defensive positions as defenders please!Thank you

Double marking defence

How do you deal with a GD and GK double marking a shooter from front and behind? The shooter unfortunately does not have much of a gap to shot the ball. Also how do you deal with a defender who constant,y marks you facing you with practically a 1 inch gap between you and her? Especially in the semi circle? Thanks

Passing, defending, getting fr...

I'm coaching u/10's and have an excellent A team, but the B team have learners who haven't been playing netball so long. Does anyone have one or two basic activities, easy to understand (for them) which I can drill them with for passing, defending and getting free, as well as something for the shooters. They are always all over the place (we do practice channels) and really struggle to get free - they run a bit and then just stop to wait for the ball. Anything, even just some advice would be appreciated! :)

Basic attacking strategy for 1...

Help, dad thrown in the deep end - what basic attacking strategies do you use for 11 years olds? They have great skill and have played since they were 5 years old, but still run around like headless chickens, everyone calling for the ball and getting in each other's way. Is there a method to this madness I can teach? Some teams look like they know who is going to pass to who and the ball gets from one end to the other fluidly. What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
