Netball: netball go

I must training an 13 years old female player and I have to work wiht her very nuch in footwork drills,tehnical procedures,mental,general phisic,tactic,after my oppinion 3-4 month,but I have a big problem with her parrents,they think that their child will play a mutch better tennis if she playing in compettitios not made trainnig with me.What is your oppinion it this a good method to trainnig a child,after my oppinion this is a great trainnig error. I have a trick I use during my cente pass. the centre just places the ball on the ground after the whistle ha blown and then the WD comes up from behind and picks up the ball and plays. This has caused quite a stir and some umpires then punish my team. What is the rule and can we use this trick? Thank you! Ronel

I would love to become a netball coach but have no idea where to start

I am coaching U/9 team that has just started this season. We have just recruited another girl and so now we have 9 children playing. I want to give everyone an opportunity to play different positions, without confusing them! How can I rotate the positions to give 8 players a quarter off without disrupting the team too much?

What are some good things to say to a team who are losing by a fair amount at halftime.?? They are 12 years old. How can i get them to keep motivated & not give up??

Within our team we have a player that has been in the team from 9/un. We now play open age 15/un and it is way above her skills and abilities. She has difficulty with training and is guaranteed to to cry at most sessions. I have spoken to her mother to encourage her to try and I have spoken to the player. I have asked her if she is happy within the team etc also asked why she plays and what she gets out of it. She always answer that she doesnt know but she is happy. The competition and team mates are way above her abilities - what to do? Suggestions would be much appreciated.

hi, i'm going to be trying out for the Vicki Wilson competition and i am up against really good players that are in rep and int he A team in club netball. these players are so much better than me and there are nearly 30 people trying out to get into the team. i really want a position but it will be really hard to get in. the trials are going to be held inside a sports hall and we are playing on slippery wooden floor. i'm scared i might slip. also, there are going to be people watching us play, so i'm really nervous about that. i don't have training for netball, only netball games every Monday, so i'll have to do my own training. Any tips or advice? any training ideas i can do on my own without much equipment?Thanks so much!

if i want to be a professional netball player , how do i get noticed?

Hello. I am a 14 year old girl. I have never umpired before, and i am expected to umpire this weekend.  I will be starting on 10-12 year olds. As you can see i dont have much experience at umpiring and i am pretty nervous that im going to stuff up or call the wrong award for the infringment that occured. I have read the Netball Australia umpiring book but some of the words are too fomral for my liking, i dont quiet undertsand. ANY TIPS PLEASE?!

Hi I have a player who has recently taken up another sport and cannot attend training at all but can attend the weekend game. We are half way through the season. I am not sure whether its fair to give this player as much game time as the other girls and just wanted to know what other coaches might do in this situation. Thanks

In a netball game, can you pass the netball backwards?

I play school and state netball as a GK/GD, when my other player is defending the GS or GA, I hold on to her defenders leg/hand for an extra lean. Because I'm quite larger and taller than most girls and already have a pretty good lean, when I ask my defender to hold me so that i am closer to deflecting the shot, she uses two of her hands and her body strength to hold me. My coach told me not to do this because she believed I wasn't allowing myself nor my other player to get an intercept or rebound, even though we had gotten most rebounds and had gotten a few intercepts with this technique. Is this an disadvantage or advantage to us?
