Keeping girls motivated when l...

Hi, I'm co-coaching an U13 team. The players are a mix of experienced, but mostly inexperienced players, with a couple of players who are really talented (these are two of our inexperienced players). All players are new to each other. The girls won every game at the district grading days and we were upgraded two levels. We are now in round 6 of the competition and the girls have lost every game and we just lost from the team that was below them on the ladder. We've had a couple of injuries and one was quite bad in round 4 requiring surgery which has shaken the girls as well. They are starting to lose heart and their game is deteriorating. How do we keep them motivated?

Rules question: Breaking on a ...

When going for the centre pass, as a WA I was taught to lose your player behind the transverse line then sprint to the line and as long as I was in the air (over the transverse line) and not grounded in the centre third when the whistle blew, I was not breaking... This used to work brilliantly and gave me a head start on my defender. However now it seems that just being in the air when the whistle is blown is considered breaking from the umpires point of view .......can someone please clarify the ruling on this?? Thanks

How to lift spirits when losin...

My team has only won one game so far (out if 4) this season and when calls go against them or they drop a few passes or miss a few goals they just lose motivation and seem to struggle. They are seniors not juniors and I don't know how to pull them out of a funk. Asked using Sportplan Mobile App

Pre-Game and break-time motivational chats

Hi Everyone - anyone got any tips for motivational chats before big games and at half time? My team are 2nd on the ladder but can lose their bundle when faced with tough opponents or rain. We're in the last round of the season and going to make the finals,...any tips for motivational chats. Girls are Juniors, between 2 and 4 seasons of experience and of average ability in a middle grade (none of them will play for Australia but they generally try hard and love the game).

Basic attacking strategy for 11 year olds

Help, dad thrown in the deep end - what basic attacking strategies do you use for 11 years olds? They have great skill and have played since they were 5 years old, but still run around like headless chickens, everyone calling for the ball and getting in each other's way. Is there a method to this madness I can teach? Some teams look like they know who is going to pass to who and the ball gets from one end to the other fluidly. Impart your netball wisdom on me, oh great netball coaches! Asked using Sportplan Mobile App

Young players giving up in a loosing game

hi everyone, I coach an under 9 netball team. As usual we have a variety of skill levels in the team. On Saturday, we lost by a lot. That didn't trouble me - it was the attitude of a few girls that really disappointed me. They gave up. They stopped running, staying with (or even near) their opponent, stood still with their hands by their sides and refused to play.AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I sat them down after the game and said that I don't care about the score board, I care about your effort. When you stop trying you let the whole team down. When you look like you can't be bothered, that leaves me feeling like I can't be bothered either!Ok, what should have I done? help please oh learned coach friends! Thanks, Melissa

Tips for new WA players

HI EveryoneI recently switched from GK AND GD, to WA. I'm finding it difficult to feed the ball into the circle and having confidence in my passing accuracy. I'm also having trouble on getting free for centre pass, especially when the other team has a really good WD. I've only played WA a couple of times so I'm still learning, but I really don't want to let my team down. Thanks all, for the help!

Midcourt drills, avoiding bunching?

Do you have a drill for teaching year 11s how to stay in their areas? like WA, C and GA? my girls are bunching and I need them to learn where they are meant to go and how to find the space.

What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
