Hi, Would like some advice as to how to defend or intercept bounce passes in the circle. Thank you. Anne
What is the best way to defend a holding shooter. At the moment I am trying to get my Keeper to keep moving around the holding shooter, mixing up going behind and infront, so the feeder isn't 100% sure what the holding space is. But am struglling to think of some drills to instill the movements into the circle defenders. Look forward to hearing your fantastic suggestions, Donna
Hi, I was wondering if someone could please explain what "holding" means in a netball game. Sometimes a defending player will get penalised for 'holding'. Thank you.
is against the rules if two goal defenders hold each other from falling forward if they defend
Would like some advice as to how to coach defenders to defend a shooter who holds to protect space? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
I play school and state netball as a GK/GD, when my other player is defending the GS or GA, I hold on to her defenders leg/hand for an extra lean. Because I'm quite larger and taller than most girls and already have a pretty good lean, when I ask my defender to hold me so that i am closer to deflecting the shot, she uses two of her hands and her body strength to hold me. My coach told me not to do this because she believed I wasn't allowing myself nor my other player to get an intercept or rebound, even though we had gotten most rebounds and had gotten a few intercepts with this technique. Is this an disadvantage or advantage to us?
Any help is much appreciated in advance. How do I stop a defender using her elbows and hands when defending. We've tried holding the skirt but once she gets into the game out come the elbows and the hands. She is really a great defender apart from this which is causing way too many penalties
How do you beat a player that is blocking/face defending an attacker who is finding it hard to get free? Particularly when they are trying to go forward into the space for the ball.
Hi there, I'm coaching for the 1st time this year - a group of year sevens. During practice I keep reminding them to move to the open spaces and not to bunch up. However they don't seem to grasp this. I have blown the whistle mid game and they have to freeze and then we take a good look at our positioning then they move into an open space they could use. They are a very talented team. Is there any drill/strategy I can use in order to stop them all running towards the ball together. They are keen for sure. Thanks. Trish

How do you teach man on man defence with 13yr olds? I have some really good defenders but they struggle to try and stay side on their player watching ball and player. I would like a drill that would help enforce this type of defence. Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
HI EveryoneI recently switched from GK AND GD, to WA. I'm finding it difficult to feed the ball into the circle and having confidence in my passing accuracy. I'm also having trouble on getting free for centre pass, especially when the other team has a really good WD. I've only played WA a couple of times so I'm still learning, but I really don't want to let my team down. Thanks all, for the help!
Hi everyone, I'm a GS/GA and I shoot well but I struggle to make opportunities for myself to shoot in games. It is slightly better when I play GS if i stay in the circle, but when I play GA or come out, it has happened that I haven't shot at all. I either get blocked from going in the circle straight away or am too slow to position myself. Could anyone give me some pointers about basic movement? I have watching videos where players roll/cut - if a player is marking you face on and blocking you from entering the D, would that be how I get around them? Could you give me some advice on how to improve from here? Thank you. Asked using Sportplan on Mobile
number of ways to mark a shooter in the circle
If a WA is holding the ball on the edge of a shooting circle and is waiting for the shooter to move closer to the hoop whilst her legs are in a split position before passing her the ball then passes the ball to her as she is now closer where does the defender have to defend from.
