Does anyone have a drill to encourage U11s to come forward for a pass?

Does anyone have a drill to encourage under 11's to come forward for a pass rather than asking for the overhead pass all the time as they are 'running away' from the ball in their haste to get to the circle?

How do I set a defensive zone (ie GA WA C WD GD) and teach the girls to defend the zone they are in and not go for the ball?

Where should a defending (opposing) centre stand while waiting for a centre pass by the attacking team. If possible, could you please give a reason for your suggestion. Thank you.

Use of the "advantage" call

Hi all, I would like some clarification regarding the "advantage" call which appears in the rules as follows%3A3.1.6 (viii) [The umpire] Shall refrain from blowing the whistle to penalise an infringement when by doing so the nonoffending team would be placed at a disadvantage. An umpire shall  call  â€œadvantage” to indicate an infringement has been observed and not penalised. Having blown the whistle for an infringement, the Umpire must award a penalty unless a goal is scored which is to the advantage of the non-offending team.  Recently I asked my netball centre why advantage was being called when the non-offending team had not been successful in passing or shooting the ball. The response was that the advantage call is made when the umpire believes that the player should have been able to get the ball away successfully. To my reading, the rule is quite clear that advantage is called only when the non-offending team would be disadvantaged by pulling the ball back to the infringement point. Even supposing both interpretations were valid, I am perplexed as to why a decision based on an objective question (has the player gotten the ball away successfully) is not favoured over a subjective question (does the umpire think the player should have gotten the ball away successfully).  For example, suppose a defending player contacts, obstructs or goes offside, and in doing so prevents the attacking player from making a safe pass, instead forcing an unsafe pass that is intercepted or a held ball. If "advantage" is called at the time of the offence, effectively the offending player's team gets an advantage from breaking the rules.  I'm sure I've seen the advantage pulled back to a penalty pass or shot at international level, but my YouTube searching has turned up nothing. I would appreciate any clarification of this rule, especially an explanation of why the subjective interpretation might be more fair, or any precedent for this being the correct interpretation. Cheers!

What do people think about defences 'zoning'?

Hi, what do people think about defences "zoning" - keeping their attacking player (GA or GS) out of the circle? I notice not many teams use this strategy. Thank you.

Is this type of defending an advantage or disadvantage?

I play school and state netball as a GK/GD, when my other player is defending the GS or GA, I hold on to her defenders leg/hand for an extra lean. Because I'm quite larger and taller than most girls and already have a pretty good lean, when I ask my defender to hold me so that i am closer to deflecting the shot, she uses two of her hands and her body strength to hold me. My coach told me not to do this because she believed I wasn't allowing myself nor my other player to get an intercept or rebound, even though we had gotten most rebounds and had gotten a few intercepts with this technique. Is this an disadvantage or advantage to us?

Simultaneous possession by two players on the same team...

When two players on the same team catch the ball simultaneously, and one player releases the ball, what should the umpires decision be? Should it be "Held ball", or should play continue?

How to get u/11 players to come forward for a pass?

I currently coach an u/11 division 3 netball team. I find that possession is frequently lost with held ball calls and passes that do not reach the player that they were intended for. The girls always look to lob the ball to each other which I instruct them not to do and remind them to come forward for a pass however they always stay behind their players and I do not know what to do. I have taught them breaking styles such as pushing off their left foot and running in the opposite direction, but they do not seem to be using this in games. Are there any ideas that I can use to make breaking fun and more memorable so that they are more likely to try it in games?

offside at a centre pass

Need some help on a dispute on a decision I made during a match I was umpiring recently.A player was tying her shoe laces in my half of the court. A goal had been scored in the half I was umpiring. Centre stepped in the centre circle whilst this player was still attending to her shoe lace. So in affect she had not got herself on side and then gone off side she just did not get on side.I blew the whistle to start play as the centre was ready. As the player who was in my half and was off side, I blew for offside. Can I have clarification on this please, was I correct, or should the other umpire have called this offside even though the player was in my half?Secondly, a reputable umpire told me a couple of months ago, that the umpire blowing the whistle to start the game at a centre pass, controls both sides for off side? I.e. All players that go offside at the centre pass, to the left and right of the centre circle. I was not suite about this so need clarification on that too. Thanks in anticipation.

Shooters contact with ball.

Why is contact from the shooters with the ball not penalized. When its clear that the defender’s distance is correct, the shooter brings the ball into the defenders hand. The defender is not lowering the hand. Please help me understand why the shooters gets away with this? how can the level of umpires not penalize?? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App

Is it obstruction if the shoot...

When a shooter steps in when taking a shot the defender does not have to move. Is this rule still current or have they changed it because on saturdays game my defenders were not moving when the shooter stepped in but they were being pulled for obstruction every time. Also if the shooter steps in and you keep your feet still but move your arm is this still obstruction?
