Netball: goal shooting for all team

hi i jut started playing GK for a local netball team and i am struggling abit, im not sure on what i can and cant do, ie jumping and waving my arms etc plz help

Hi all, I would like some clarification regarding the "advantage" call which appears in the rules as follows%3A3.1.6 (viii) [The umpire] Shall refrain from blowing the whistle to penalise an infringement when by doing so the nonoffending team would be placed at a disadvantage. An umpire shall  call  â€œadvantage” to indicate an infringement has been observed and not penalised. Having blown the whistle for an infringement, the Umpire must award a penalty unless a goal is scored which is to the advantage of the non-offending team.  Recently I asked my netball centre why advantage was being called when the non-offending team had not been successful in passing or shooting the ball. The response was that the advantage call is made when the umpire believes that the player should have been able to get the ball away successfully. To my reading, the rule is quite clear that advantage is called only when the non-offending team would be disadvantaged by pulling the ball back to the infringement point. Even supposing both interpretations were valid, I am perplexed as to why a decision based on an objective question (has the player gotten the ball away successfully) is not favoured over a subjective question (does the umpire think the player should have gotten the ball away successfully).  For example, suppose a defending player contacts, obstructs or goes offside, and in doing so prevents the attacking player from making a safe pass, instead forcing an unsafe pass that is intercepted or a held ball. If "advantage" is called at the time of the offence, effectively the offending player's team gets an advantage from breaking the rules.  I'm sure I've seen the advantage pulled back to a penalty pass or shot at international level, but my YouTube searching has turned up nothing. I would appreciate any clarification of this rule, especially an explanation of why the subjective interpretation might be more fair, or any precedent for this being the correct interpretation. 9yr old accurate shooter with 95% shooting stats shoots from chest. team has been upgraded to play 12yr olds so she needs to learn higher shooting stance as def too tall, but she is having difficulty with this and fast loosing  confidence.  should i pull her from shooting for awhile as she learns, what do you suggest

How do I approach a training after a bad loss due to shots? They are 10 year olds and the team played well but due to only 20% of goals going through the hoop the score didn't reflect the closeness of the game. Ta.

Hi there, we are in South Africa, and the Netball season is pretty much over until next year. What Drills and practices can my daughter do on her own to keep her eye and mind sharp? She will be in the schools 1st team next year if all goes well. This year she was chosen to play for the provincial team so we want to build on this achievement. She plays GA or GS and still practises her goal shooting but what else? Please help

Is it a good idea to break the team up into their different positions and work in small groups ?

Hello, it will be my first time ever doing something netball related specifically coaching so I was just wondering if I could get help starting and initiating plans. I am experienced in Basketball so I am hoping this will help with drills and excerise.

We are playing in n a grand final this week and the opposition has a very tall GS and holds very well. I am thinking of getting my defences to double team her but wanting to know best way to teach this & also what's the best way of stopping the GA (just getting WD & c to try & block her getting in the ring) any thoughts on best way to beat a tall shooter. The girls are 13 but played a lot of netball. Thanks

Hi, I am a 13 year old girl who plays netball every Saturday. I have been playing netball as a centre since I was about 9 yrs old. When I moved teams I changed to GA cause they needed a GA. I had also been playing basketball so when I moved into GA I shot like a basketballer. I only just recently started trying to shoot like a netballer, but it is't really working. Our GS is usually the player that shoots most of our goals but she broke 2 fingers and is out for the finals. I need some advice to help me to be a better GA and step up a shoot lots of goals to see our team go into the grand final.I need help learning to shoot better but my coach is young and plays defence. p.s. I am the only other shooter in my team.

Hello - i am looking for a few GD tips on the best way to defend a shooter that receives the ball a couple of ways as i always struggle to get around them when they do these moves! First way is that the shooter lunges out very wide (practically doing the splits) to receive the ball from the feeder on the circle edge and steps back closer to the net with the foot that is closest. I can defend her getting close to the net, but then she turns to the feeder and jumps and splits - thus always ending up close to the net. The second way is when the shooter stays quite stationery under the net, a couple of foot off the back line and holds her space there. she receives the ball by a large over head pass, so she steps back slightly on one leg to receive the ball from the feeder. what would be the best way to defend all the large overhead long passes to her, or draw her out? any help or some ideas i can try would be great! thank you :-)

My team recently played against a team where the GK would shake the goal post everytime our shooters would take a shot. She was not picked up for this at all, i believe it was an infringment, maybe intimidation or some type of contact. Can someone advise, is this a viable play, or is it an infringment. It was very obvious, she would only shake the goal post once the shooters had released the ball for a shot, not before so she wasnt leaning on it for support and she kept doing it and was never picked up

Hi, Wondering if any one can clarify the ruling for shooting partners screening in the goal circle? Our GA has screened effectively so far this season but was pulled by the umpire today when screening the GS? She hadn't contacted either defender, and was at 90cm distance, so we were left a little confused?? Is there a set distance they need to be away from their shooting partner?? She was told she was too close and a penalty pass given to the defender. Advice greatly appreciated %3A)
