Netball: getting ball into the circle

Pulling up contact. My GD was blocking the GA from getting close to the ring today by getting in her way. The WA had the ball on the edge of the circle and had not made the pass but the GA pushed into my GD to get through so I gave a penalty pass to my team where the push happened. The other umpire seemed to think that this was not affecting the movement of the ball. Was I right to give us the ball and award a penalty pass, despite the WA not having passed yet?

hi guys, im jada i just made it into a rep team but i want to get even better with my movement in the circle, i'am a goal shooter and i'm really tall 5, 10 to be exact i'm also only twelve years old but i want to be unstoppable as a shooter because i hate being second. so could you please help me on anything to do with getting free like dodging or something just some sneaky tricks?? thanks guys regards jada

Hi, my team is having issues breaking a defensive zone where the GD and GK sit high in our attack end and play an area rather than players, we tried manning up on them but just crowded the attack end and didn't work?  If we lob over them the other defender drops back and picks up the intercept, same when we pass to the corners.  Any advice will be gratefully received! Hi, i am predominantly a U12yrs coach but i want to transition in to coaching the high school girls. I love all these drills and session plans and have found them very helpful, but i am looking now for information on strategies used in netball eg/strategic positioning of players when changing from attacking to suddenly defending after a turnover, or when should the GA drop back . when to use a zone defence or side-on defence. All these questions that aren't covered by drills. Is there somewhere to get this info or is it just learn as u go. Thank you

What are the best drills to train GS and GA timely movement in the attacking circle?

I was watching the silver ferns game last night & noticed the GS stands right up on the line when the opposing team is having their centre pass. Just wondering opinions on that, do you think its to put pressure on WD/GD if the centre passes back, or I guess she is there if there is any mistake made (loose ball possibility). I am just wondering if I try this with my 10/11 year olds. My GS wants more work to do!!!

I like the idea of teaching set plays to stop my girls swarming the ball, but wasn't sure what set plays to use! Are there any on this site or can anyone share their favourite easy ones for 8/9 yo's

Hi Everyone I've been playing defence for a long time now, and only last Saturday did I start to play centre. It was during our warm up on that day, (before our game) when my coach told me that I would be playing centre. I agreed to do it, but the problem was that the other team was a really good and very fit team. I struggled a lot durig the game, and i felt like i was dying the whole time! Also because I had never played centre before I didn't know how to feed the ball into the goal circle. I also don't know how to defend on the goal circle. HI EveryoneI recently switched from GK AND GD, to WA. I'm finding it difficult to feed the ball into the circle and having confidence in my passing accuracy. I'm also having trouble on getting free for centre pass, especially when the other team has a really good WD. I've only played WA a couple of times so I'm still learning, but I really don't want to let my team down. Thanks all, for the help!

(I dont usually play WD,so i`m still getting used to the position.When defending the WA at the centre pass, should i be on the inside or the outside of my player on the line?). How do i defend on the goal circle and try and get intercepts?when should i leave my player and try and go for an intercept?

In a netball game, can you pass the netball backwards?

I was playing GS today and marked by a very tall GK. As I was watching the ball come forward, I moved to the top of the D but she didn't stay with me and remained behind me. I couldn't see her and was unsure if I should stay close to her to be aware of where I could move, or to just move where I wanted. My back was turned to her as I was facing where the ball was, should I be side on to see her in my peripheral vision but not stay with her, or should I keep marking her to hold her then come forward when appropriate? I would be grateful for any advice, thank you,

What is the best way for a Goal Keeper to defend, especially within the semi circle. ? Should they watch the ball then try to intercept any ball going to Goal Shooter or just mark up their partner?Submitted via email
