I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
Does anyone have a drill to encourage under 11's to come forward for a pass rather than asking for the overhead pass all the time as they are 'running away' from the ball in their haste to get to the circle?
What is the best way to defend a holding shooter. At the moment I am trying to get my Keeper to keep moving around the holding shooter, mixing up going behind and infront, so the feeder isn't 100% sure what the holding space is. But am struglling to think of some drills to instill the movements into the circle defenders. Look forward to hearing your fantastic suggestions, Donna
We need to practice our goal line throw as an attacking thrown because ares is getting intercepted is there any pointers we can use
Hi, I am struggling to locate some drills that I deliver on communication between my circle defensive unit. I have the forming a v around a single shooter with the back player directing the front defender. but maybe some space ownership drills would help with the communication and relationship between the players.I look forward to hearing some great ideas as always.Donna
I have a tall girl who is a great shooter, but she struggles in getting free for the ball. Can you suggest any drills to help her with this.
Are there any good practises that will help my team be more aware of others on the court. As our game is speeding up we are tending to become more focused on the ball rather than the whole game. I know that we will improve with time, but in the meantime, are there any recommended practices that will help to develop player awareness?
I coach 11 year olds. Let's say our GK secures a rebound, pivots and looks to pass to WD who is holding her position on the circle edge (leaving no space for anyone to get in front of her).Is the WA from the other team allowed to then place her outside foot in between our WDs feet and effectively bully / push her way so that half her body is in front of our WD? Hi, I am starting of as a first time coach helping the shooters get ready for the representatives netball. I have played GS AND GA for over 20 years and would like to know how and what is the best way (drill) to get the shooters strong enough for rep?
I was playing GS today and marked by a very tall GK. As I was watching the ball come forward, I moved to the top of the D but she didn't stay with me and remained behind me. I couldn't see her and was unsure if I should stay close to her to be aware of where I could move, or to just move where I wanted. My back was turned to her as I was facing where the ball was, should I be side on to see her in my peripheral vision but not stay with her, or should I keep marking her to hold her then come forward when appropriate? I would be grateful for any advice, thank you,
hi i jut started playing GK for a local netball team and i am struggling abit, im not sure on what i can and cant do, ie jumping and waving my arms etc plz help
HI EveryoneI recently switched from GK AND GD, to WA. I'm finding it difficult to feed the ball into the circle and having confidence in my passing accuracy. I'm also having trouble on getting free for centre pass, especially when the other team has a really good WD. I've only played WA a couple of times so I'm still learning, but I really don't want to let my team down. Thanks all, for the help!
should the GK stay behind the GS or in front
Ive got 2 girls that have never played before and they keep driving to catch the ball into the thrower's space, i've tried to tell them to move out the space and even spent a whole training session teaching the team how to use space on the court but they still keep trying to catch the ball next to or just in front of the player, does anyone know any drills that encourage driving away from the ball and down the court away from the thrower?
After my opponent release the ball can I use my body but not arms to block in front of her so as to prevent her from going to the front?( In centre third) If the opponent just run ahead and crash on the defender, is it a contact?Or in fact the action of the defender preventing the attacker to run towards goal third is obstruction or a rule called" causing contact"?
Does anyone have any tactics on how our GS can get around a very tall GK and shoot? The GK is 6ft 5" with very long arms and our GS is 5ft 4"!! Any tips or tactics would be appreciated! Thanks :-) x
Help... I am new to coaching netball albeit have played for years. My experience in playing comes from being an attacker so trying to work with my defence, is proving tricky. The issue I have is that both my GD and GK face mark. I have tried numerous drills in training however as soon as they get in to a match, they revert back to face marking. When the ball is coming down the court, I encourage them to stay on their toes, side marking and moving in front and round the back however when the GA or the GS moves out, the face marking starts. We have had balls bounce of the backs of heads and all sorts. Does anyone have any tips? Di
I am new to coaching this year and have a couple of girls who struggle to catch the ball despite 3 yrs of playing. One is quite scared and the other does not have good gross motor skills. Any suggestions on drills or games to improve these?
i coach an under 15s team and my gaolers are struggling to move in the ring. They seem only make straight leads and do not get in front. Are there any drills or advice to help my gaolers move efficiently in the ring?
