Hi, This week I'm planning an extra fun training session for my U9's. After an all day carnival on the weekend, I thought having the parents join in our session could be fun. Has anybody done this and got any good ideas for games that would work for the kids and parents - any ideas for fun ways to modify the rules for a full court game that would even up the girls and parent's skills would be appreciated too. While coaching my 9-12 yr olds recently I was told by the nearest umpire that I was not allowed to call helpful tips out to my players while games is in play. Is this correct procedure for "Adult" games or was the umpire being a little strict for the age group?Thankyou Christina WA Coach

I am coaching a Year 2 netball team for the first time. Unfortunately, during games sometimes the ball naturally spends quite a bit of time down one end of the court. One child is losing enthusiasm as a result. Any suggestions to keep them enthusiastic when this happens? We rotate players at least each half and all get to play an equal amount in each position per Netta rules.
Hello. I am a 14 year old girl. I have never umpired before, and i am expected to umpire this weekend. I will be starting on 10-12 year olds. As you can see i dont have much experience at umpiring and i am pretty nervous that im going to stuff up or call the wrong award for the infringment that occured. I have read the Netball Australia umpiring book but some of the words are too fomral for my liking, i dont quiet undertsand. ANY TIPS PLEASE?!

Looking for ideas to award our kids for their 1st season of netball. They are ages 7 - 8. I don't want to use most improved or most valuable as they have all improved since their 1st game and they are all valuable to the team. I have began coaching Under 9's this season, we have played 3 games and I have kept the girls mostly in the same positions as my plan was to spend a few weeks in an Attacking Position, then a few in a defending position and then say the last 5 games in the area you are best at and enjoy the most. I was planning to change positions for this Saturdays game, but training has been cancelled due to bad weather. My question is, do I change their positions on game day with limited time to do any sort of game plan etc or do I just keep the same as the past 3 games? I know there is no right or wrong however I am interested in your opinions.
What are some good things to say to a team who are losing by a fair amount at halftime.?? They are 12 years old. How can i get them to keep motivated & not give up??

9 players - 4 girls off half a game each week or 2 players off per quarter? I coach a 10 yrs team in a very close A grade competition. There are 9 players therefore 2 reserves are needed each quarter. Is it best to have 4 girls off for half a game each week, less disruption to team but best players are then off for half a game - girls are off every second week, or 2 girls off each quarter, more disruption but best players are only off for quarter of a game, girls are off every week. I am required to give all players equal time on the court throughout the season. Thank you.

What a fantastic tool. The Chalkboard and session tools make an unbelievable difference in making training plans in both time and organization. I will be instructing all of my assistant coaches that this tool must be used for all sessions during the season, so that we may build a club coaching resource library.
