I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
How do you get the shooters to passI have a 9 year old team and the shooter will not pass the ball and thinks that scoring the goals is important instead of playing as a team and getting closer to circle.
We are struggling to find an U11 shooter in either team. How can I encourage the players to practice more at home and what is a realistic amount of goals to practice at this age?
I have a team of 11 and 12 year olds. They have all played netball for at least three years. Their general ball skills are pretty good but they keep "running" with the ball. What are the best drills to break this habit? Liz
How do you teach circle defenders how to handle defending both shooters when GD or GK is out of play outside the cirlce?
Hi My U11 team play against teams that continually use bounce passes, but they struggle to defend against them. I don't encourage the girls' to use them at this age, but I think this is making it hard for them to know what to do. Any help gratefully received. Thanks Charlotte
Can you only download the session of the week for two weeks? Is there an archive? Also I liked this site on fb but can't seem to acces the free sessions or weekly session. Why?
I wondered if anyone could give me a rough order of what parts of the game I should focus on with my daughter's 10 year old team for their pre-season and early-season training? I'm tempted to talk to them about positional play but they don't have really firm positions yet so I don't want to confuse them. I've just taken on my daughter's 10 year old team. They are division three and many of the girls played for the first time last year. Their coaching last year was very light. I spent our first session last week working on straight leads and dodges, just simple running onto the ball and throwing in front of the player drills. We have 2 more training sessions before our first game...
I need to know the defending skills, to make it easy on how to defense the attacker
Hi, I am new to coaching, but have played all my life.I have taken on a team of 13 year olds this year, and am enjoying it. I have a few challenges, but the main one is that one of my key players, GK, has ADD/ADHD. She is the tallest girl on the team, and would be so effective if she just tried. She doesn't try. She doesn't engage with me or the other players. I have given her plenty of positive feedback, in the hopes that she will be boosted by that, I even partnered with her tonight at our training session, just to see how she would go. In the warm up with me, she was great, kept up and stayed enthused. When we started running drills and working on different things, she just doesn't even appear to be engaged. I know she is medicated when she comes to training, but I need her to switch on in a game situation. At the end of our training sessions, we always play a small game, and she just loses her enthusiasm and just doesn't try. I'm looking for ways to help and encourage her. Any ideas or suggestions welcome!!
Hi I'm all new to Netball and coaching under 9's. We have 10 aside. Can anyone help in the best way to do a rotation form.At them moment I have a list with names and positions then each week I just move the name down to the next position so they play that position for the entire game and the resting players alternate eg with C or WD or GK each quarter. Are they the main positions to rotate with? Thank you for your time.
If the defender falls in while defending the shooter, is that obstruction? If they fall in and duck down they are still moving into the 3ft zone....

I am wanting to get myself into best possible fitness before the season starts. What are some training's/ ideas that could help?
what is the fairest way to rotate 10 players
The opposing centre was touching the ball when marking the centre pass. However, on three occasions my centre was called for contact with the umpire saying she was initiating the contact by pushing the ball into the players arms. Maybe she was, but how can an umpire be sure who is initiating this? my centre was reduced to tears after being called for the third time (we are talking U12 here). Any ideas?
What drills are best to help slow down the pass, in other words use the 3 seconds allowed. To help players reposition for the next pass. Training is too fast a pace. Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
How can GS and GA help each other in circle when defenders are tall, intimidating and high contact (ie putting hand on ball when setting up to shoot, putting hand over face). Can GA stand between GS and GK to give GS a clearer shot?
