Does anyone have any good drills for defending an over head feed into the circle?
I have a 13 yr girl in my team who has broken her wrist the last two sessions.(one on the court, one off) What is the rule regarding her wearing a wrist guard during the game? THe first game of the session, last week, the umpire wasnt going to let her on, but the other team allowed it.
I am coaching 10 & 11yr old girls for the 2nd year purely because no one else wanted to do it - I've never even played netball and this site helps me every week, invaluable and we see tangible results. 1st year we won comp and championship, this year came 2nd in comp, champ starts this Sat. Two of the girls have told me their mums are changing them from this school team to another club (the one that won) next year 'cause "the coaching's not good enough for their child". All this teaches their child is that if your team isn't winning, go to another - forget about loyalty. Sometimes it difficult to take this on the chin. Any advice?
I need to know the defending skills, to make it easy on how to defense the attacker
My GD is tall and has a very good stretch when marking the shoot. She anticipates well, and when she sees the shoot about to release the ball, times her action and from her stretch, flicks her hand to try to deflect the ball from its path. In a recent game, she was continually pulled for contact when doing this. She felt either the shoot had raised the ball up into her hands (and it should have been the GD's possession), or the shoot had actually released the ball before she then deflected it, rather than her knocking the ball from the shoots possession. The umpire after the game was happy to discuss and said the GD had been penalised for knocking the ball out of the shoots hands, and should have stuck with the stretch and not added the flick. Any advice?
How domi deal with a player who does not attend training but yet wants to participate in league games. She is a good player but I feel she is missing out on training and how the whole team functions together and led eloping herself further.Also I have a player who thinks she is the best player in the team . She enjoys playing centre position which she is very good at. After half time I get her to sit out because I need to give ankther players who is totally as good as her to play centre as its fresh legs on the court, plus she gets a little tired playing centre.She feels she is capable of playing a full game and why does she have to sit out at half time. All the players are excellent players in the team therefore it's difficult to decide who to sit out and who to keep on??Please advise
What should a player do when they are in a rep team & committed but the coach makes comments after a carnival game like ''why did they bother coming if they are going to play like that" It's rep level, so the time commitment is big for parents & players and these comments visibly affect the team morale. It's also said at the side of the court where everybody can hear. My daughters shooting gets noticeably wobbly after these pep talk. They are given no specific guidance on how to improve their technique or change their game. Good players who are not difficult have left the rep team partially because of these types of comments. It is nearing the end of rep season & I fear if my daughter speaks up now, there will be negative consequences for her & and if I speak up, I will be seen to be an interfering parent. I know coaching is a difficult gig as I have coached for several years. Granted, a good game is acknowledged, but the damage has been done. They are 13/14year old girls and generally, not too sassy. The girls train for club & rep, play an extra game for rep each Saturday, umpire & practice outside of rep training, so they are a committed team. Several of the parents in the team coach & we all find this style to be counterproductive. Any suggestions?
I have a particular player who disrupts training constantly, she doesnt concentrate and undermines me often, she chooses which part of training she wants to do and refuses to do the rest, if forced to do it she sulks and puts the whole team into a mood. I need an approach with her that will get her attention at training and her respect.

HI EveryoneI recently switched from GK AND GD, to WA. I'm finding it difficult to feed the ball into the circle and having confidence in my passing accuracy. I'm also having trouble on getting free for centre pass, especially when the other team has a really good WD. I've only played WA a couple of times so I'm still learning, but I really don't want to let my team down. Thanks all, for the help!
Hi,I am finding it really difficult to get one of my shooters out the habit of trying to shoot every shot from the outer edge of the circle with not a very good success rate. She doesn't seem to see or want to understand that a pass would be more beneficial, has anyone had similar issues or have any suggestions to get rid of this attitude and mindset. Hi, This week I'm planning an extra fun training session for my U9's. After an all day carnival on the weekend, I thought having the parents join in our session could be fun. Has anybody done this and got any good ideas for games that would work for the kids and parents - any ideas for fun ways to modify the rules for a full court game that would even up the girls and parent's skills would be appreciated too. HiRecently I was umpiring a very challenging game.I was questioned about a decision i had made during the game, to which I said that if a further explanation was required that the player should approach me at quarter time. This particular player and a number of others on court continued to be extremely challengingAt quarter time this player approached me not to ask for an explanation but to challenge my decision and it would seem the tone that I had put on my decision, which she seemed to think was made by me with a harsh tone.I explained that i would not tolerate her attitude on court. She then said that as i had made my point that she wanted to make hers. My understanding of this is that, although I do not have to give an explanation I did because sometimes it helps with the attitude of players if they know what they had done wrong. On this occasion the player concerned wanted to make her point, this is what I need clarification on.She said that she was going to report me to the league as I did not allow her to have her say.I was not aware that my tone was harsh, and did ask the other team if they felt I was, to which they said that they absolutely did not.This player was a defender, and the only thing I can think of is that when she asked for an explanation for my decision I was running back to the centre line as a goal had been scored, I was at this point running back, entering the score, calculating whose centre pass it was, so may be my tone may have been a little rushed.Although I feel that I am was happy with my decisions on the day, I was wondering where I stand when something like this happens. Are players allowed to voice their opinion, I didn't think they were, but can not find anything in the rule book that definitively says one way or the other.I am a firm umpire, and feel that I know the rules thoroughly having played at a very high level myself int he past.I am a grade C umpire and the team was in one of the higher divisions, so really should know better.
