4 corner drill

Minimum of 8 players with 2 balls (balls start on diagonally opposite corners). Players 1 and 3 run to their left towards the player that is going to feed the ball to them. Before reaching the player who is going to feed them the ball the receiving player should make a sharp dash towards the centre to receive the ball, accelerating as they do so. Once the ball is received the player passes it to the player diagonally across from where they started and follows their pass and joins the back of the queue. The drill continues.

Christmas tree warm-up

Players stand at opposite ends of the tree in two lines. One player from each line runs from one side to the other at a time.

Warm ups

Co-ordination Passing

Both blue players have balls. They both throw their balls to the Red player facing them and the red players return the ball diagonally to the other Blue player. The Red players then swap places etc.

Passing

Diagonal Passes

4 players line up, each standing on a corner of the square with one player stood between two cones with the ball. The drill starts when the player with the ball passes the ball diagonally, anti-clockwise, with a chest/ shoulder pass to the next player who is running forward to receive the pass. After they have passed the ball the players should stand on the next cone. This player then passes diagonally to the next player before running to the next cone.

Interception - group activity

Red 2 has the ball and red 1 starts in the opposite corner Blue 1 runs forward and Red 2 passes a diagonal pass to Blue 1 Red 1 moves on a diagonal to intercept the pass Following the interception red 1 feeds a straight pass onto Blue 2 Red 2 then runs straight to receive a diagonal pass from Blue 2 and Blue 1 moves across to intercept this pass.

2 Feeders and 1 worker. The worker receives the ball from one of the feeders and passes it diagonally to the other feeder. Worker then moves across to receive the ball back from the second feeder. Repeat. It's very important that the worker lands on the outside foot every time she catches the ball to be able to step with the other foot towards her next intended pass.

Footwork

One Handed Pass and Catch

One player always passes the ball straight and the other always passes the ball diagonally. Both players are catching and throwing the ball with one hand and at shoulder height.

Passing diagonally then straight - Overhead and Chest Pass

Have two lines of players both stood behind a cone on the edge of the first third. The red player starts with the ball. The blue player sprints to the cone on the baseline and receives the diagonal overhead pass from the red player. Once they have received the ball the blue player then passes the ball to the next player in their team before sprinting the back of their line. The drill repeats the other way round (blue passing to red). Drill continues in this way.

Group practices

Run and follow

Position 4 red players on the first 4 cones of the tree and 4 blue players in a queue at the base of the tree. Like a pendulum, blue players from the queue run to the person in front of them and stop. Like in a relay the person who was standing on the cone runs to the next cone and then stops as the person who was previously on the cone runs the next one. Once the red players reach the top of the tree they then run all the way back to the start, sprinting along the diagonals and side-stepping along the horizontals. Repeat this until the 4 first cones are now occupied by the queuing players and the players who were on the cones are now at the start.

Time your run - pass and move

The Player with the ball passes to player in space on the left. The player receiving the ball jumps into the air, prior to pass and turns in the air to receive ball, finishing up facing backwards to return ball to player in the same queue. This player then passes diagonally to the right.

In turn the worker feeds the ball to the feeder and then drives to the spot. The worker then changes direction and drives on to the fast and flat pass from the feeder. Finally the worker passes to the next player in the opposite line who then passes to the feeder and repeats the exercise in opposite direction.

Set up: 2 post players, 2 balls, 4 cones set up in a square, 1/3 space.Workers line up behind a cone and drive straight out to first cone to recieve a sraight pass from passer.The worker then straight drives across to side cone, recieves a pass from other passer. Drives forward to front cone and receives diagonal pass from the first passer.Worker then drives sideways to the final cone to recieve a pass from the opposite passer. Worker drives midway between the front cones and recieves a pop pass.The worker then returns to the liine they came from and next worker drives out.

Set up:No set amount of people needed.Working in partners. 2 groups opposite each other. Two players drive out on and angle.One player receives a pass from the same line they have left.Receiver to pass back to partner who has driven out also.First receiver drives long and diagonal across court to receive a long pass from their partner then delivers it back to the line.Introduce trigger once players have mastered the above movement.<br><br>Trigger – called by a nominated player to change the space.Same drill as above but to the opposite side of the court.When 'trigger' is called players aim to adapt to the other side of the court as quickly as possible.'Trigger' player to initiate play and be passing/receiver option.

One to receive a pass (attacker A) from feeder in opposite line and one to anticipate defending the oncoming attacker from diagonal side.Feeder (from opposite line) delivers ball to either one of the drivers who then becomes the attacker.Attacker A delivers ball to opposite attacker who has driven from the diagonal side.Attacker A to drive and cut through court to receive the ball from diagonal opposite feeder.Defensive partner to defend oncoming space/person.Attacker to receive the ball in front of defender.Ball returns back to line. Workers to return to line.

Set up: Full court, 6+ players, 10 cones. Players start in two groups on the baseline. Cones are set up in a ‘Christmas Tree’/zig zag like formation down the length of the court. One at a time, each player runs straight to the first cone. Side steps to the second cone. Runs a diagonal to the third cone. Sidesteps to the fourth cone and finishes with a diagonal to the last cone.Players then join the group on the other side and do the same movements going back down the court. Players are running continuously and leave the baseline with the player in front has reached the first cone.

Players D and E act as WA/C and GS/GA feeding in and out of circle. Player E may choose to put up a shot. Player E delivers ball back to starting point A.

Equipment: 2 balls, half court space, 6+ players.4 players stand as posts in a square as set out in video. Approximatly half way down 1/3 and near halfway.2 other players, the workers, start on the baseline with the balls, one each. Workers pass ball out to first posts on a diagonal and follow the pass to recieve a short pass from first post.Workers then pass straight on to the second posts and follow the pass. Second post players toss a high ball for the workers to catch. Workers stay put and the second post players run down court to recieve a long pass to the point of the first posts.First posts move down and will become the workers in the next round.

Full team cross drillSet up: 8+ players, one court space, 2 balls.Players set up in four corners in equal numbers, opposite lines facing each other.Both balls start on the same side with the person and the front of the line.Opposing front 2 players drive out on a diagonally and receive a pass from the opposite line.They turn pass back to the side they came from (but the opposite line). Then immediately become a defender for the person who now has the ball. The person now at the front of the line, with the ball now delivers a pass to players who have driven out on a diagonal and the drill begins again.

Groups of 6 with one ball per group.Player 6 starts with the ball, with player 5 starting to move in to receive the ball before passing the ball onto player 1. Player 5 goes behind player 1. Player 1 then passes the ball to player 6 who has made a run to receive the ball.<b>Progression -</b>Having fed out, the player defends the next pass i.e Player 5 passes to player 1 and then defends the pass from player 1 to player 6.

Players set up like five points on a die- these are the feeders. Workers start in the middle facing out to one of the feeders who has the ball. Worker recieves a pass in the middle and passes back. They then drive on an angle towards the the far point on the same side as the ball ensuring they can see the ball and body angle is indicating where they would like the ball. Feeder sends a long pass to the point the worker is heading to.Worker then passes a long pass to the far diagonal feeder. They then front cut the middle point to receive another pass on the drive and pass back to the feeder. Once again they turn body angle to see the ball as well as indicate where they are heading and drive to the last far point on the die and receive a long pass from the feeder. Repeting again, the long diagonal pass and front cut for the pass in the middle. Roatate players after player makes a few successful run-throughs.

Ball is received then passed on to the player at next corner, in anticlockwise direction. Player who drove joins the line they passed the ball to.The ball continues to rotate anticlockwise.

Three stationary feeders assembled as a triangle facing the shooting circle (two either side of circle and one at the transverse line). Description: Players on base line: Player closest to feeder passes the ball to standing feeder at side of circle. Both players drive out from base line. Player who passed the ball drives around the feeder who was just passed to (diagonal drive). Other player drives towards the stationary feeder near transverse line (straight drive), they need to prepare to receive a pass. First feeder catches and delivers a pass to the forward driving player before they get to the stationary feeder. The driving player with ball now passes ahead to the stationary feeder at the transverse line. The first initial driver has driven around first feeder and aims for a cross court straight drive to the final feeder. Stationary feeder at transverse line delivers a pass to the initial driver which will be received mid court. Initial driving player passes to the last stationary feeder in front of them and continues to drive around them. Other driving player would have driven around the transverse standing feeder and drives straight back towards base line and will receive a pass from the last stationary feeder midcourt before sending the last pass to the other driving player.
