Netball: crowding through centre

I'm a young coach who is coaching an 11A's team. I find it hard to identify/pick up on the problems within their play. How do you identify these problems in order to fix them? And what are some of these problems (like running flat-footed and release hieght of a pass)? Asked using Sportplan on Mobile

Hi guysSo I’m having a isssue with my GA and WA coming up way too high on our GK transitions. I keep telling the girls that they can’t cross that transvers line so soon, let your teammates GK, GD, WD & C bring the ball down as your making there space crowded and making it a lot harder to for GA to get in the shooting circle. My friend coaches an under 13s team and when someone has the ball they all run for it like seagulls going for bread. The coach has told them many times to spread out and for not everyone to run to the ball at once but the girls keep doing it and they can't get the ball down the court.

I have conflicting advice - don't teach too many court strategies ie C to WA to GS to GA from a centre pass as I have been told that it stiffles their thinking. But without this I find they all crowd the space and at 10yrs old it seems very difficult to get them to understand about reading who is already in that space.  Or perhaps I just aren't explaining that concept well??  And also when bringing the ball through the court from a goal line throw in at our GK end - same with strategies for that. Is it okay to say GK I won't you to throw it to GD, then GD to C and so on and this is where your area of the court is and I want you to stay in that area and try and get the ball there?  Keeping the WD on the otherside and making sure she doesn't cross over. Confusing over how much at this age we teach court strategies or perhaps they are know as plays.  Alice P

I am coaching Under 13's (girls aged from 8 - 12) just wondering what the best way to get them to move into space and not crowd would be.

Help, dad thrown in the deep end - what basic attacking strategies do you use for 11 years olds? They have great skill and have played since they were 5 years old, but still run around like headless chickens, everyone calling for the ball and getting in each other's way. Is there a method to this madness I can teach? Some teams look like they know who is going to pass to who and the ball gets from one end to the other fluidly. I coach a group of 10 girls (8 yrs old) in the grade above netta (we call it Sub-minis but same rules as netta) I rotate them 4 def 2 c 4 attack (eg 3/4 each or 1/2 if they are center) I am having problems teaching them spaceing and who to lead into which spot etc. After our game on the weekend I thought I'ld try a different tack (was a bit loathed to do this as they may take it too literal) but I am wanting to split the court into "zones" for each position as a guide for them eg Center gets the middle "track" right down the court WA one side GA the other etc. has anyone tried this, will it make it worse any further suggestions......?????

How do I teach my team to pass and then move quickly so that the opposition's defenders cannot intercept our passes.

I was teaching my girls centre pass defence. One of the mums said that the attacking WA and GA will never let our GD and WD on the out side of them. Is this true? if so why. thanx Kutz

How do I teach junior players how to play corridors

I currently coach an u/11 division 3 netball team. I find that possession is frequently lost with held ball calls and passes that do not reach the player that they were intended for. The girls always look to lob the ball to each other which I instruct them not to do and remind them to come forward for a pass however they always stay behind their players and I do not know what to do. I have taught them breaking styles such as pushing off their left foot and running in the opposite direction, but they do not seem to be using this in games. Are there any ideas that I can use to make breaking fun and more memorable so that they are more likely to try it in games?
