How do I get my goalies moving?

I'm an accredited coach doing some research on blocking as I had never had a player called for 'interference'. Is it within the rules to block your opponent from leading down court whilst facing her? The example is with my WD going out for centre pass, then blocking her WA (whilst facing her) to delay WA's lead down court. Hi, this is a question for both me as a player and to pass on to players in social netball teams that I organise. I'm looking for any advice or tips to pass on to attacking players who are 'blocked out' by defenders, for instance when GS comes out to support and then can't get back into the circle. I often feel like I'm ballroom dancing with defenders rather than getting away from them! Any short drills that I could do with teams (we occassionally meet up and do a bit of pre-match training) would also be great. And if anyone has anything that individual players can do in their own time that would awesome! I'm a big fan of Rae Druce's Netball Fitness ebook, the advice for skipping & plyometrics is really transforming my flat footwork and jumping ability so anything I can do and encourage other players to do would be great. Our School netball coach resigned last night. I am an assistant coach for soccer, coach for volleyball, assistant coach for basketball and now will be a caretaker for our netball team due to play finals tomorrow. What drills and tactics can I use today at training to prepare them for a school tournament finals tomorrow?I need your prompt assistance please

I'm a 17 year old centre and i have trouble defending as i am short any tricks to help me?

Need some help on a dispute on a decision I made during a match I was umpiring recently.A player was tying her shoe laces in my half of the court. A goal had been scored in the half I was umpiring. Centre stepped in the centre circle whilst this player was still attending to her shoe lace. So in affect she had not got herself on side and then gone off side she just did not get on side.I blew the whistle to start play as the centre was ready. As the player who was in my half and was off side, I blew for offside.Can I have clarification on this please, was I correct, or should the other umpire have called this offside even though the player was in my half?Secondly, a reputable umpire told me a couple of months ago, that the umpire blowing the whistle to start the game at a centre pass, controls both sides for off side? I.e. All players that go offside at the centre pass, to the left and right of the centre circle. I was not suite about this so need clarification on that too.Thanks in anticipation.

Defending off court player.When a player in general play goes off court to improve her position , does the defender HAVE to allow her onto the court ? OR can she block her from returning. Eg shooter on one side of the circle goes off court around the goalpost and tries to return to court on the other side but defender {on court} blocks her from returning. Is this legal ???

After my opponent release the ball can I use my body but not arms to block in front of her so as to prevent her from going to the front?( In centre third) If the opponent just run ahead and crash on the defender, is it a contact?Or in fact the action of the defender preventing the attacker to run towards goal third is obstruction or a rule called" causing contact"?

I am an umpire as well as a player, and I had a situation a few weeks ago that challenged my knowledge. On a centre pass. Referring to the third lines. Do the third lines form part of the centre court or are they part of the goal third. In other words at what point would GA,GD,WA and WD become off side? If their foot/feet were on the line? Same for the Centre, would she be off side if her foot/feet were on the line?

If my C and GD block the GA so that she can't get into her attacking third is that okay. They are basically facing them and getting in their way so that it makes it hard for the GA to get free? Also, if the GA then runs into one of my defenders and the ball is just about to be shot by their GS do I pull it up as a free pass in the centre third or do I presume that it does not affect the movement of the ball and let the GS continue with their shot?

My year 6 girls are experimenting with stepping in to shoot a goal. I'm finding this to be a disadvantage as they are unbalanced on one foot and therefore inaccurate. The defender is not required to step back, keeping 3 feet from the grounded foot so the shot is put up into the defenders hand. I am a centre court player so I'm not sure what advice to give.

This happened numerous times in a recent game where the GD was blocking the GA up the court and the GA left the court and tried to return from the back line under the post. The GA was insisting that the GD was "marking off court" and on a couple of occasions the umpire called this and awarded a penalty to GA under the post? The GD was on court at all time whilst marking.

Help... I am new to coaching netball albeit have played for years. My experience in playing comes from being an attacker so trying to work with my defence, is proving tricky. The issue I have is that both my GD and GK face mark. I have tried numerous drills in training however as soon as they get in to a match, they revert back to face marking. When the ball is coming down the court, I encourage them to stay on their toes, side marking and moving in front and round the back however when the GA or the GS moves out, the face marking starts. We have had balls bounce of the backs of heads and all sorts. Does anyone have any tips?  Di

Is a defence allowed to block a shooter from entering the circle with their body but not using their arms?
