I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching plans for my under 9's netball team.
My girls all huddle up rather than spread out. It is so frustrating. HOw do you teach them to spread out for the ball and keep in their side of the court. Any drills you can direct me to? It is also about getting free. They to lob passes rather than flat passes.
Hi there, I'm coaching for the 1st time this year - a group of year sevens. During practice I keep reminding them to move to the open spaces and not to bunch up. However they don't seem to grasp this. I have blown the whistle mid game and they have to freeze and then we take a good look at our positioning then they move into an open space they could use. They are a very talented team. Is there any drill/strategy I can use in order to stop them all running towards the ball together. They are keen for sure. Thanks. Trish
Hi there I"m coaching a wonderful team of yr7 girls (11-12yr olds) they have lots of potentional however no matter how much I tell them to "find the open spaces" they don't and keep all running towards the ball as they are very keen. Then we have all this open space and about 3/4 players bunched together. Ideas of drills/ strategies to teach them would be much appreciated. Thanks - Trish
I am coaching a little net set go team (set tier) with ages 5-8. Usually I coach high school girls. A mum of one of the 7 yr olds just messaged me with this: "i was just wondering If you have any tips to help us get Miss S enthused about netball, she isn't enjoying it but wants to "give it more time" (her words)." We only have a half hour training session before we play as no one else will coach but this is the only time I can do training and there are players from another town so this is the best option for everyone. We play a couple of warm up drills/games and practice 1 skill ready for our game. I have covered the basics of passing and footwork so far. None of my team have ever played before, but 4 of them did the net set go - net tier last year. The girl has only played 2 games so far as we have had a bye. So far she has had a go at positions GK, GD, GS, GA, and WA. She is the tallest girl in the team and so tends to get a fair amount of the ball. Any ideas on what to suggest to this mum?
I have a low grade, 10 year old team (3 new players). I can not get the team out of the habit of bunching and standing with hands in the air. I have tried lots of things, some work, but they tend to revert back to bunching when the pressure is on. Can anyone suggest a simple solution.
I coach 10 and 11 year olds that need quite a bit of work. They still need to build their upper body strength and passing accuracy. I am teaching them to use chest passes as the pass that they should use the majority of the time and use shoulder passes for longer range passes. I find that their shoulder passes are weak and not accurate, but something we are working on progressively. We have an umpire that constantly yells at the kids and demands that they use shoulder passes all of the time and has told me that I am coaching them wrong and that I don't know what I am doing. What are your thoughts on this? I do the best I can as a volunteer coach.
HELP! How do I stop my 6yr old girls from bunching on the court? They are like bees to the honey.
Hi guys. So I've been coaching for 3 years. The same bunch of girls since they were 7-8 years old. I'm coaching then again this year which is great. But I've also just been approached in coaching the under 12's development rep team. Just wondering what I'm in for, as I haven't been given a lot of information as yet. My team are a bunch of very strong girls, however they always start a game slow. Only leading by 1 or two. After the first quarter they seem to have settled and will normally win by a large gap. I make sure they warm up properly including landing skills, sprints, ball work and half court but yet nothing seems to get them playing their game from the off set? Any ideas?
My school netball team are a bunch of very strong girls, however they always start a game slow. there is only 1 or two players that do all of the work. what can i do???
I am gojg to start coatching KS3 and i just want to know how you felt and how you got over it
I coach a very talented bunch of girls currently going into year 6 so they are all 9/10. They currently play up by a year or two on some occasaions and have won 2 leagues.(just giving you the picture). My Ga is a very strong dominant player and consequently my GS lets her rule the circle and lacks confidence in herself. My GS should be controlled the circle calmly and GA playing off her? My GS is truly amazing but just need to finish her game of slightly! Any drills or tips! Thanks! Asked using Sportplan on Mobile
Clearly define spreading out in netball
Hi. I am a welfare worker at a primary school and had a bit of interest with playing netball in our lunch break once a week. We only have one net so we can only play half court and we have about 10 players.I only know netball through my daughter playing every weekend otherwise I've had zero experience.Do you have any suggestions how to get the girls started? Most of them never had played netball or even seen a game!Thank you
What is a good drill to get players to use all 3 channels and not bunch up?? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
hi. I was wondering if anyone has pulled together drills and plans into a season plan for weekly practices. I'm coaching a bunch of kids who haven't played together before but are all pretty skilled so need to learn set moves and strategies.
