What is the best way for a Goal Keeper to defend, especially within the semi circle. ? Should they watch the ball then try to intercept any ball going to Goal Shooter or just mark up their partner?Submitted via email
Do you have any good drills to help prevent contact?
Looking for drills to develop 'aggression' in players when there is a loose ball - ie. to 'want/own' that ball.
can you lean on a ball to stop you going offside?
How do you advise your team as Coach when they come up against a rough and agressive team? What is the best way to cope with rough play. Thanks
After my opponent release the ball can I use my body but not arms to block in front of her so as to prevent her from going to the front?( In centre third) If the opponent just run ahead and crash on the defender, is it a contact?Or in fact the action of the defender preventing the attacker to run towards goal third is obstruction or a rule called" causing contact"?
Can a GD or GK have their body touching the bodies of their opposing GS and GA if no one has yet received the ball?
What is the best way for players 11-13 to mitigate the affect of open players using their elbows. It is brought to the umpires attention and they do their best. However, I have in the last few weeks heard 2 different coaches (when I was observing games - hence I could hear the coach) give instructions to her players to "use elbows and intimidate". Seems a growing trend based on what a lot of players are doing on court in a range of teams. Defensively my players are starting to shy away from staying close to their oppn player. When on attack - I tell them to keep moving so the oppn defense can't set up on them and use the elbow. The poor GS particularly is getting really knocked about a lot of time as she is trying to execute a hold sometimes.
What are some good warm up drills that could be used with a group of approximately 20-30 girls? I need to make sure they are all doing something otherwise they get distracted and lose their concentration.
Are there any good practises that will help my team be more aware of others on the court. As our game is speeding up we are tending to become more focused on the ball rather than the whole game. I know that we will improve with time, but in the meantime, are there any recommended practices that will help to develop player awareness?
We played last night and at least 4 or 5 times during the match we were blown for contact. This was when a player had received the ball and turned at speed to make a quick pass. But because the opponent was man on, the player with the ball accidentally knocked into her with the ball. Our captain questioned this and was told that the player with the ball had to allow the opponent to get her distance before turning to feed the ball. This was so frustrating as we had to slow our game right down. Is this a new rule because we have never come across this before?
I know the normal technique for shooting in netball keeps two feet on the ground, but I would just like to know whether that would be a foul if you jumped as you took your shot? Thanks
How can GS and GA help each other in circle when defenders are tall, intimidating and high contact (ie putting hand on ball when setting up to shoot, putting hand over face). Can GA stand between GS and GK to give GS a clearer shot?
What are the best drills to use for a session on man marking? and in what order so that the session progresses?
How to stop a lot of contact with having a position as WD throughout the court, does anyone have any tips ? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
Why do interceptions fail, ie. what makes an interception successful and what makes an interception unsuccessful?
