Netball: blocking defence

Is a defence allowed to block a shooter from entering the circle with their body but not using their arms?

how do I get a defender to use a tighter defence on the goalers?

We're about to play a team who's GD is well over six foot! Any advice on getting the ball in the net without her intercepting? Our GS and me are fairly small.

Hi, what do people think about defences "zoning" - keeping their attacking player (GA or GS) out of the circle? I notice not many teams use this strategy. Thank you.

I coach a group of Y5/6 primary girls and think they're ready but there's some debate in my netball community about whether it's acceptable or not

Ok i played on the weekend in 2 places i hate and never have played usally. I usally play WA. But my coach put me in GD and GK she was amazed of how well i was in GD so she put me there for the next quater then she moved me to GK and i was also good at that. Seeing as i am usally a WA i move away from the player it sort of helped at times then i my teams remind me that i was meant to be defending. I am not that good at defending so what are some tips to play in GD and DK because my coach told me i am playing there this weekend

How do you deal with a GD and GK double marking a shooter from front and behind? The shooter unfortunately does not have much of a gap to shot the ball.Also how do you deal with a defender who constant,y marks you facing you with practically a 1 inch gap between you and her? Especially in the semi circle?Thanks

How do you beat a player that is blocking/face defending an attacker who is finding it hard to get free? Particularly when they are trying to go forward into the space for the ball.

I play school and state netball as a GK/GD, when my other player is defending the GS or GA, I hold on to her defenders leg/hand for an extra lean. Because I'm quite larger and taller than most girls and already have a pretty good lean, when I ask my defender to hold me so that i am closer to deflecting the shot, she uses two of her hands and her body strength to hold me. My coach told me not to do this because she believed I wasn't allowing myself nor my other player to get an intercept or rebound, even though we had gotten most rebounds and had gotten a few intercepts with this technique. Is this an disadvantage or advantage to us?

If my C and GD block the GA so that she can't get into her attacking third is that okay. They are basically facing them and getting in their way so that it makes it hard for the GA to get free? Also, if the GA then runs into one of my defenders and the ball is just about to be shot by their GS do I pull it up as a free pass in the centre third or do I presume that it does not affect the movement of the ball and let the GS continue with their shot?

I'm an accredited coach doing some research on blocking as I had never had a player called for 'interference'. Is it within the rules to block your opponent from leading down court whilst facing her? The example is with my WD going out for centre pass, then blocking her WA (whilst facing her) to delay WA's lead down court. Defending off court player.When a player in general play goes off court to improve her position , does the defender HAVE to allow her onto the court ? OR can she block her from returning. Eg shooter on one side of the circle goes off court around the goalpost and tries to return to court on the other side but defender {on court} blocks her from returning. Is this legal ???

The lead & drive drill looks good but does not add the 2nd centre which would obviously be standing in front of the GA, with the defence either side effectively blocking the GA off from advancing forward or sideways - any suggestions?

After my opponent release the ball can I use my body but not arms to block in front of her so as to prevent her from going to the front?( In centre third) If the opponent just run ahead and crash on the defender, is it a contact?Or in fact the action of the defender preventing the attacker to run towards goal third is obstruction or a rule called" causing contact"?

I am thinking of getting my defences to double team her but wanting to know best way to teach this & also what's the best way of stopping the GA (just getting WD & c to try & block her getting in the ring) any thoughts on best way to beat a tall shooter.
