Defender in the middle

Players work in groups of 4, with 3 attackers forming a triangle, standing 1.5 meters apart and one defender stood in the middle. The ball is passed in any direction between the 3 attackers. The defender must use fast feet to follow the passes and try to intercept the ball.

Figure of eight

Split players into pairs with one ball and three cones, placed in a triangle. The feeder stands above the top of the triangle. Using quick, small steps the worker has to rotate around the cones in a figure of 8 before then receiving the ball and returning it to the feeder at the top of the triangle. Start slowly before gradually increasing the pace.

Intercepting - 5s

3 and 4 are posts (static). 1 and 2 can only feed the ball straight. They pass the ball to each other and occasionally feed to 3 and 4. Defender 1 must go for the interception. NB-the defender must be successful to build confidence

Players 2 and 3 stand just in front of a line. White 1 stands in the middle but just behind the line, and is ready to move, on her toes. The feeder feeds the ball to one of the posts and the worker must move forward to intercept the pass before returning to her start position.

Using a limited area of the court. i.e. a tennis service court or badminton court (about 3 metres wide). Worker 2 dodges to receive the ball between the two lines.the ball is fed in so that the defender is successfulAs the defender increases their confidence, then increase the area in which the attacker can run

The defender (green 1) attempts to intercept the ball as it is passed between 3 static players. It's important that the three attacking players are not standing too far away from each other. Focus on the defender.

One Handed Pass and Catch

One player always passes the ball straight and the other always passes the ball diagonally. Both players are catching and throwing the ball with one hand and at shoulder height.

Players work in groups of 5 - 3 passing players on the outside of the triangle, one attacking player in the middle and one defender who is marking the central player. The defender has to prevent the attacker from getting free to receive a pass from the outside players.

2 teams (standing alternate) 2 balls. 1 team starts passing the ball in one direction around their team. The other team then passes their ball the same way to try and overtake the ball from the team that started.

In groups of 4. Three players hold hands, with the fourth player being made the tagger. The fourth player (green player 1) has to try and tag a named member of the triangle (in this case player 1).

Body Angles- 5 Points Movement...

Players set up like five points on a die- these are the feeders. Workers start in the middle facing out to one of the feeders who has the ball. Worker recieves a pass in the middle and passes back. They then drive on an angle towards the the far point on the same side as the ball ensuring they can see the ball and body angle is indicating where they would like the ball. Feeder sends a long pass to the point the worker is heading to.Worker then passes a long pass to the far diagonal feeder. They then front cut the middle point to receive another pass on the drive and pass back to the feeder. Once again they turn body angle to see the ball as well as indicate where they are heading and drive to the last far point on the die and receive a long pass from the feeder. Repeting again, the long diagonal pass and front cut for the pass in the middle. Roatate players after player makes a few successful run-throughs.

Get into 3's with one ball Set up 4 cones approximately 4-5 meters wide and 2-3 meters high One player will be the feeder and stand approximately 2-3 meters in front of the conesOne player will be the attacker and will start centrally behind the cones and the other player will be the defender and will start centrally in front of the cones The attacker will move between the cones running out wide and forwar to the cones closer to the feeder The feeder can only feed the ball when the attacker is at either front cone The defender must try to intercept the ball The defener must get 4 successful interceptions (2 each side) before they can switch out

Whilst defending, you should always try to maintain an open body position, allowing you to see both the player and the ballThis means you should position your body at an angle so you are not flat facing your player, nor with your back to them. This position will enable you to see the a wider view of the court and help you analyse play to time your interception perfectlyYou should also try to maintain a narrow foot base and a stay on the balls of your feet so you are ready to move off and be first to the ball

The worker must move at speed to run at an angle, and then quickly spin outwards, away from the feeder, before cutting back in to receive the pass. Work like this for 10 passes and then swap player roles.

Three Man Weave Movement - Net...

Set up: 6+ players, full court space, 1-4 balls, 8 conesThree cones are set up across the width of the court about a meter in from the sideline. In groups of three players line up across from each other behind the cones. Cones may be placed along the sideline so player understand they are to stay on the outside of theses cones but still in court. The ball starts with the middle person. Player on the left cone drives out straight and receives a pass from the middle. Middle person then runs to the person they passed the ball to. Player on left who received the pass, deliveries the ball to the third player who has driven out on the right. When players pass they the follow it to the player they have passed to take their position. Players continue this ‘weave’ down the court.

Dodging Getting free - Netball...

Split players into 4s inside a coned area. The attackers (white) start with the ball on the outside of the playing area. To begin with White 2 feints a movement one way and then sprints in opposite the direction (to begin with use a passive defender). After white 1 has passed the ball, she then has to do a feint dodge and run in opposite direction to receive the ball. Try to get 3 / 5 passes in a row before possession changes.

Equipment: Dependant on numbers, one ball between 2, full court area.Players are in 2 lines down the length of the court. One line of players has the ball. The other line stands inbetween these players facing them (i.e. not directly opposite). Coach wil call either number; one, two or three. Followed by either left or right.The number determines the movement. Left or right determines the way the workers drive. If workers drive left they should lead with their left hand to the ball and if they drive right, the right hand should touch the ball. One: Workers drive to either left or right. Tap ball. Drive back on an angle to recieve a long pass.Two: Workers drive and tap either left or right hand. Drive back the same angle with a side switch half way back.Three: Same as two but once workers reach their start point they drive forward and recieve a flat pass from the post.

Set up: Half court, 3 stationary feeders, 3 balls, 1 attacker, 1-3 defence.<br><br>Feeders are placed in an extended triangle formation. Each feeder has a ball.Attacker drives out from transverse line to first feeder where a pass is received, attacker returns pass and moves around the feeder.Attacker does so with the other two feeders in the extended triangle formation creating a 'zig zag'.Attacker works her way through the 'zig zag' in both directions without errors.

Split players into groups of 7/8 with 1 ball.Players stand into 2 lines facing each other with 1 feeder in the middle on their own at an angle.Player 1 starts with ball, throws to 'Feeder' who sprints forward to recieve the ball on the cone<br><br>The receiver lands on 1 and releases the ball on 2 to the player waiting at the opposite queue.<br><br>The receiving player then joins the opposite queue. Combat a good GA opposition

Looking for ideas or strategies to combat a really quick and accurate GA. Cant let her run the whole court as she will get every second pass and still shoots 90% of the other teams goals.
