Netball: across

when i asked my team (13 yr olds) what they thought they need to improve on, one of their answers was communication. what is an easy way to teach them to communicate with each other during the game?

I coach a group of girls aged 14-16 in an intermediate division. i try and coach them so it will be their skills that will win them the game, and to play fair and skilfully. unfortunately this doesnt seem the norm. i am disappointed in the number of coaches today teaching kids to push, trip, elbow, lean, and without any regard to the fact that this is being done to children, who could get injured by their tactics. i understand, playing hard but fair, and contact is part of the game, as it is a physical game, but these a tactics that are being taught. has anyone come across this, and what is the right way to handle it, as the umpires dont seem too keen to put an end to it. (even when asked to). looking for all sides of this discussion.

I have 10 players and need to roster them equally, does anyone have a formula

I have taken over coaching a 15/un open team about 8 months ago. The focus for improvement was to work on fitness. They are much fitter than when we started and now can finish off a game. There are 4 very good players and 4 average players. I need help with the attitude of one of the girls. She half-hearted takes direction, doesn't play well unless she plays in the position she wants to, constantly whispers negatives to others at training and is constantly giving us intolerable looks if she doesn't like what she hears. I could go on and on. And yes she is one of the average players. We have 3 coaches in the team and we have never come across such a rude girl. In my day you would get a ball in head if you weren't looking and listening to the coach! Please help with how we can engage this girl.

Help, dad thrown in the deep end - what basic attacking strategies do you use for 11 years olds? They have great skill and have played since they were 5 years old, but still run around like headless chickens, everyone calling for the ball and getting in each other's way. Is there a method to this madness I can teach? Some teams look like they know who is going to pass to who and the ball gets from one end to the other fluidly. Hello all, I have been coaching my u10's currently for 2 years now. They are a fabulous little team i.e. gs holds and defence box out etc however we are never winning games! They are currently playing up a year and after sitting back and watching what is going wrong I had noticed they all seem to be in one area so no-one can drive into a space to receive a direct fast ball. When this occasionally does happen the ball is not released fast enough and consequently intercepted! I was wondering if anyone has an tips on space, driving into space, and early passes! This team could be amazing if we sort this is out! Please help!!!!!!!!!

I like the idea of teaching set plays to stop my girls swarming the ball, but wasn't sure what set plays to use! Are there any on this site or can anyone share their favourite easy ones for 8/9 yo's

I play in a back to netball league, the various other teams also agree that one of the umpires is rude and overbearing with a lot of the players. Her decisions are not explained and she doesn't answer any questions we have. We don't feel we learn anything from her. She also shouted a sarcastic comment across the court to me during the match. Is this something we can complain about? We look to her for guidance and encouragement and she just snaps back and is rude. Advice what to do about this situation would be good. Hi,I am finding it really difficult to get one of my shooters out the habit of trying to shoot every shot from the outer edge of the circle with not a very good success rate. She doesn't seem to see or want to understand that a pass would be more beneficial, has anyone had similar issues or have any suggestions to get rid of this attitude and mindset. Hi I have a player who has recently taken up another sport and cannot attend training at all but can attend the weekend game. We are half way through the season. I am not sure whether its fair to give this player as much game time as the other girls and just wanted to know what other coaches might do in this situation. Thanks

My WD has worked hard on getting her placement so when the ball is feeding into the circle, she is keeping her WA away and to the side, generally the WA is fed an overhead ball heading towards the the back corner. The WD knows what pass is coming, and it's placement, she feels confident she could challenge more, so need some drills to practise holding her player, but then moving round her opponent at the last moment to try and go for the ball as well as holding.

How do I evenly play 10 players over 4 quarters
