2 vs 1 in the Circle

The 2 defenders inside the circle must ensure one of them is always marking the attacker inside the circle. While one player marks the defender, the other should be covering the space and looking to make the interception.

Zone defence

Follow your shot

White player 1 throws to Blue player 1, then runs quickly into circle and receives ball back. White player 1 then shoots, collects the ball, and passes to Red player 1, before joining the back of the Red player's line. Red player 1 does the same from the other side and the drill continues.

Rebounding

Intercepting - 4s

Blue 2 moves to receive ball from Blue 1 and returns the ball to Blue 1, who immediately throws to White2. Blue2 attempts to intercept pass. When completed, reverse exercise to receive on the other side.Blue 1 moves out etc.

Pass and Move

Groups of 6 with one ball per group. Player 6 starts with the ball, with player 5 starting to move in to receive the ball before passing the ball onto player 1. Player 5 goes behind player 1. Player 1 then passes the ball to player 6 who has made a run to receive the ball. Progression -Having fed out, the player defends the next pass i.e Player 5 passes to player 1 and then defends the pass from player 1 to player 6.

Popping over

Blue shooter (Blue 1) has the ball inside the circle.Pretend to shoot, with white 1 defending, instead of the shot, blue 1 pops the ball over the defender to blue goal attack(number 2) who has held her position with the defence behind her.Defenders stay in for 10 attacks. Attackers pass and follow and then go to the back of the line after shot.

Reactions

4 players, 2 balls. The Player in the middle has to, on reciept of the ball, pass the ball onto a player that does not have a ball. This can not be to the player that just passed them the ball. ProgressionPlayers 1 and 3 move wider around the worker.

Group practices

Rebound - groups

White player 1 throws to Red player 1 and then follows in to mark and catch the rebound from the Red player's shot. The White player returns the ball to the next player in their line and joins the back of the Red player's line. The Red player in turn joins the back of the White player's line.

Side Steps

Pair your players up, with 1 ball per pair. The player that is the worker receives 3 passes to the left over an increasing distance, then repeat with 3 passes to the right (worker runs back to centre each time.) Encourage the worker to try to land on their outside foot.

Footwork

Turn and Pass

Players work with one ball in pairs inside a square area. The player without a ball (Red 1) sprints across the box to receive the ball on the other side. Player 1 then turns as they receive the pass. Red 2 then runs across to receive ball on the other side etc. Make sure players are balanced and are in control before they make the next pass. The worker must not move across the square until the feeder is ready to release the ball.

4 players. 1 ball.White 1 and 2 are defence, working as a unit. Blue 1 and 2 have a ball. They pass between them and also into the area between.(Loose passes). Whites must call for the ball and cover each other to pick off the passes. Then feed to either blue and play on.

3 Players; 2 Attack and 1 Defence set up in an area of court relevant to their positions.The marked attacker passes the ball to the other and then moves into a space and gets free from the defender to receive the ball back.

3 v 1 Getting free - Netball D...

Ball tarts in the middle 1/3 passed to player in the attacking 1/3 and the GS has to get free to receive the ball, marked by the GK. The GS can pass the ball out of the circle again until she receives the ball in a shooting position close to the post.

Working on a 2 vs 1 Getting fr...

The feeders are positioned adjacent to one another, instead of opposite - with an attacker and defender inside the square.Within the square, there will be 2 defenders and 1 attacker.The attacker can offload to either feeder.However, if the attacker cannot get free within 3 seconds OR the attacker is holding the side of the free feeder - the ball can swing to the free feeder.The ball can only be swung once, at which point it must be passed to the attacker.The attacker must still try to get free each time for the first feed.The practice allows the attacker to work on a 2 on 1 situation.

Player 4 marks player 3 while aiming to intercept the pass between the two blue players (feeders). If Player 4 makes their move too soon the feeders should try to play the ball over the defender's head to player 3.

Slowly the two attackers pass the ball back and forth down the court towards the circle. The defender must move to the ball side of the player inside the circle. The defender must remain on their toes and keep moving as the two attacking players can put the ball into the circle at any point.

Two feeders stand in middle of the court, either side of the center circle. The attacking player passes the ball out to the feeder and then runs out, looking for the return pass. The defender must react and look to push the attacker wide and/or intercept the ball.

Create a square, approximately 3m x 3m as shown by the by the blue cones in the diagram.Two feeders will stand either side of the square, with an attacker and defender in the middle.The attack can choose which feeder they wish to offload the ball to.The practice is continuous - with the attacker working towards a set number of passes or time.

Create a square, approximately 3m x 3m as shown by the by the blue cones in the diagram.Two feeders will stand either side of the square, with an attacker and defender in the middle.<br><br>The attacker will get free to receive the ball from one feeder (as shown) and then offload to the other feeder.The attacker will then get free again to receive the ball from this feeder and the pass to the opposite feeder - the process repeats.The attacker must alternate feeders each time.The practice is continuous, therefore the attacker will continue to work for a set number of passes or a set time.Ensure all players are rotated to get an opportunity at each role.

One A starts with the ball. She passes to her partner who has made a move to get past a defender. First A then moves, taking on the other defender to receive the ball back from her partner, a 1-2 passing pattern. A then passes to another A at the front of the opposite line to where she started. Defenders mark tightly. Working As line up at the back of the opposite line to where they started. New As repeat.

Set up a 3m x 3m area, with an attacker and a defender inside. A feeder stands outside the area and starts with the ball. You can set this up in the context of the court with the feeder starting on the Centre circle and the box being in a shooting third. The feeder tosses the ball up to themselves to start the drill and turns to face the attacker. The attacker's aim is to come over the front line to recieve the ball, getting free from the defender. 3 seconds for a pass once drill has begun.

The 2 defenders are only allowed in the Circle. Attackers can move in and out of the circle as they wish but can only have one player at a time inside the circle. Start the practice with only 1 shooter and 1 feeder.

2 vs 1 Pairs Passing - Netball...

3 teams of 2 players.<br /> 2 teams combine to play against the 3rd team. If 3rd team gets the ball, the team that lost the ball is in the middle and the other two teams combine to continue. Once five passes have been achieved, a different pair become the defence.

Follow Ball - Part 1 Movement ...

Split players into groups of 7/8 with 1 ball.Players stand into 2 lines facing each other with 1 feeder in the middle on their own at an angle.Player 1 starts with ball, throws to 'Feeder' who sprints forward to recieve the ball on the cone<br><br>The receiver lands on 1 and releases the ball on 2 to the player waiting at the opposite queue.<br><br>The receiving player then joins the opposite queue. The player at the front now with the ball repeats the process.

Fingertips control 1 Ball skil...

Players have 1 ball each. They start in a space away from one another on the netball court. Player holds the ball out in front of her with elbows slightly bent. Using her finger tips, player pushes the ball from one hand to the other as quickly as she can. After 30 seconds ask the players to jog round the netball court while still moving the ball between their hands, being careful not to bump into anyone else. After a minute of jogging, players are asked to complete 5 squats, still keeping the ball moving. After completing the squats, player makes eye contact with another player then swaps balls by using a pass of their choice.

In pairs, 1 player - the statue - holds a ball aloft in one hand. Partner runs, leaps and snatches the ball, lands with the correct footwork, Once theabove is achieved with balance, add a turn once the player has landed so player is facing the same way she has come from and returns the ball to partner. Once the ball has been snatched, the statue could sprint to another point to receive the ball before the exercise is repeated.<BR> Progress this practice through all 3 stages until all players are balanced

Hi I have a new team of 7/8 year olds and we have one very weak player that doesn't move or listen nor catch the ball. Any advice? I need to play her in all positions as they move around to learn them all but feel she needs to learn one at a time. She says she just wants to shoot but that's difficult when she can't catch.
