1) Simplify your club finances

From collecting membership fees to chasing up individuals for their match fees, you can often find yourself short changed at the end of the season. Keeping track of payments doesn't have to be so difficult!

This is where teamo can help - where you can accept all payments to one club bank account all in-app. This can save all club member's time and effort so make sure you read on to see how.

Within a few taps all members can pay for match fees, membership, events and more! teamo keeps accounts of all club finances so you can easily view the members with outstanding payments and send out automatic reminders.

2) Engaging beginners and new members

One great way to improve the quality, size and atmosphere of your club is to start engaging beginners. Setting up training sessions for beginners can be a great way to begin integrating new players into your club. You may think that you don't have the depth in coaches to lead such sessions but with Sportplan it's easy for anyone to become a great coach, especially with our £1 student deal. It'll soon be worth the small investment when you see the new memberships coming in!

Your club website can often be the first point of contact many students will have with your club. Maintaining and updating your club website will give a more professional feel and ensure that first impressions of your club are positive and engaging - encouraging more members to join.

3) Create a club development plan

Setting up a development plan can be very important in running a sports club, most importantly it keeps you accountable for your club's progress over the coming season and beyond.

Here are some tips for creating your development plan:

  • Write out where you are now - e.g. number of members
  • Plan your three main aims for the club - e.g. new sponsorship
  • Decide who should be involved in the plan and delegate jobs
  • Set out small steps that include everyone to achieve these aims
  • Decide how you will review your progress, perhaps it's through weekly committee meetings

4) Getting new sponsors

If your club doesn't yet have sponsorship, now would be a great time to start! For most university clubs, sponsorship will mean helping your club out financially; often going towards kit, travel or events! By following these simple steps you may realise that this job is easier than first expected.

  • Assign a sponsorship rep
  • Decide on what your club can offer sponsors - e.g. logo on jersey
  • Decide impact numbers for sponsors - e.g. the size of your club or social media presence
  • Identify potential sponsors
  • Create and send sponsorship letters
  • Follow up!

5) Use teamo!

The teamo app aims to make everyone's lives easier within your club; from player to president. You're already aware of how teamo can assist you with club finances but that's not all. Using teamo allows you to keep player availability, team selection, fixture/ event information and communication all in one place - so you're no longer jumping between emails, facebook and text messages! Don't allow yourself to grow tired of updating your club membership database and email lists - as with teamo this is done automatically.
