U'8s

Hi guys new to the site and really impressed. I've just took over my first ever managing job of a u'8s boys team. What would be good drills to start with for passing, defending, shooting as I know the could get easily board.

Hello,

With young players small sided games (ssg) are usually the best way to keep boredom at bay. You can find some ideas for games to work on the core skills you mentioned above in the Conditioned games section.

As much as you might want to create the next best player though the key thing to remember with this age group is that their motivation for playing is for fun.

  • Be sure to keep things energetic and fun and if you see that something isn't working change the game!
  • Engage your players with short demonstrations and q and a sessions
  • Get players to work in small groups so that they have plenty of ball time
  • Always go around and give lots of positive reinforcement!

Good luck and keep us updated on your side's progress this season!
