How to set the team up to defend a team that play the high ball over the top for thier fast forward to run on too
Hi Nicholas,
you're not looking for a specific formation here - what you should do is stick with the formation which your team are most comfortable with and then practice moving up and dropping off as a unit when the long ball is played. By moving together as a unit your players will be able to catch the opposition's striker offside or will be in a good position to clear the high ball.
This week's session of the week covered how to defend as a unit against teams who play the ball over the top.
Hope this helps,
Alex
