I would love to become a netball coach but have no idea where to start
Hi Justeene,
There are hundreds of teams crying out for people like you - I can't offer much advice in the way of what qualifications you would need but a lot of advice is available on Sport England's website in terms of where to find teams that would like help with coaching.
Good luck!
Hi Justeene, I started coaching at a local junior club, to gain experience alongside a qualified coach for about a year. Now that coach is left and i am now coaching a group of 30 kids. I am just undertaking my Level 2 coaching course, and whilst it is alot of paperwork and time consuming (5 days of training), i have learnt so much from the other coaches. I have also found the drills on this website invaluable. I would say go along to a local club or even school and offer your services, they will bite your hand off! Wish you lived near me. You need a bit of confidence as if you sound like you know what you are talking about the rest will come. Use printed out drills as a reminder, and keep your sessions simple and tailored to the age and ability of the players. Hope this helps, just give it a go, keep it fun, and you'll be amazed at what you already know. Good Luck
Hi Justeene, there would be lots of clubs that are crying out for coaches. If you go to the England Netball website%3A [link removed] click on the Coaching link, and then UKCC level 1 Courses. You can see the courses in your local areas. Get in touch with your local Netball Development Officer and County Netball Association, and they will be able to put you in touch with some local teams that might be looking for coaches! Good luck.
Go to your local netball association and get some advice from them, sure they would give you a greater insight and options to take. you could also go to local schools and ask if you could sit and watch afew trainings, get advice from some other coaches.depends on what experience you already have and what you know about netball. i started out coaching 2years ago because i have played and loved the sport so much, dat i thought that i had something to give back to others.you will have diff experiences along the way,you will learn alot about yourself and working with others. i found coaching young players was a challenge but enjoyable and this year i coach a womens team that had never played before. experience is important and also the love of the game. goodluck
