Is it legal to use a "stealth" tackle and a poke tackle?

For high school, I can't find it saying it isn't allowed, but I don't want to teach it to my girls or make them aware of these if they can't technically use them

Poke or Jab tackles are definitely legal. As for stealth tackles, do you mean the sort of tackle that a defender might throw from behind as a slice or shave tackle that comes under her stick?

From my experience, the problem with that tackle in the USA is not the tackle but the likliehood of its failure and the tendancy of American refs to call it against the defender even if it was legally used because "it just didn't look legal".

Yes, that was what I meant. And I feared that would be what would happen, that it would be called against the defender. Thank you!

I agree, in the UK it would depend what level the team is playing at. I know the rules are the same but the interpritation of them is different every game. I try to get my players to play to the ability of the umpire in other words - try it once if blown up give it another go if blown up again don't do it again in that match.
