Does anyone knows "The low driven pass"

can I get ideas or suggestions on how to approach this topic. I need drills, games etc.

Hi Eddie,

This is a good skill for players to have as it allows them to quickly pass over long distances while keeping the ball on the floor, making it easier for the receiving player to control.

In terms of how to practice the skill I would recommend going over the basics of the skill with your players first, explaining technique and demonstrating good execution of the technique, before then getting players to work in pairs (see chalkboard below).

After this I'm sure you could create a conditioned game where, for the first 5 minutes, the only type of pass allowed is the driven pass.

Hope this helps,
Alex

Drive Passing in pairs - increasing distance

Description:

Players work in pairs and pass over an initial distance of the width of the penalty area (smaller depending on age of players).

The aim here is for players to keep the ball on the ground and get it to their partner as quickly as possible using a driven pass.

Coaching Points:

Good approach to the ball, place non-kicking foot beside the ball (should be pointing toward your target) and keep your eyes on the ball.

Ensure your knee is over the ball (important for keeping the pass down) and strike the center of the ball with your laces with your toes pointing down.

Progression:

You could introduce a rule that if players make 10 passes without making a mistake they can both increase the passing distance by taking their cone a step back.
