Tennis: Volley on the 'V'

DESCRIPTION

Purpose:

Learn correct movement to volley!

Coach feeds alternately from side to side.

Players hit volleys and recover position to the middle each time.

Must stay inside the throw down lines (cones)

Feed is set of 6-8 balls.

COACHING POINTS

  • Small racquet work on volley- less is more
  • But large movement and steps with the legs
  • The outside leg from the ready position (closest to the direction of the run) moves first to make the run smoother
  • Moving the racquet from high to low in a slice creates underspin
