Tennis: Open Return

Your tennis drills are extremely useful coaching tools.
Nail, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Player stands on the deuce side.
  • Coach serves to the T.
  • Player executes backhand return using open stance.

COACHING POINTS

  • Players have tendencies to try to return serves to the T using a closed stance which makes them hit the ball too late.
  • That is why it is important to learn how to plant the left foot wider and put weight on this leg to be able to maintain balance while hitting a backhand return.
  • Coach should also pay attention to player’s footwork and also to the body balance to make sure that the player controls their body in the same way they control the racquet.
