COACHING POINTS

Hitting right after the bounce is a skill that players have to possess if they want to get to the higher level of tennis. By hitting on the rise player shortens the opponent's reaction time so there is a big chance that the rival will deliver an easy ball or even make an error.

In this drill player works on ability to hit forehand down the line on the rise while being inside the court. This skill is important while trying to respond offensively to deep balls. This kind of situation players can meet while hitting the first shot after the serve when good returns prevent from moving behind the baseline. Coach should tell players to stay low while hitting the ball to make sure that there is a stable point of contact every time.
