Tennis: Body Serve From The Deuce Side

Your tennis drills are extremely useful coaching tools.
Nail, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

Player serves to the body from the deuce side, aiming through the cones. The coach then feeds a regular ball to the advantage side, and the player finishes with a deep backhand cross-court in between the cones on the other side of the court.

COACHING POINTS

The body serve is one of the most difficult serves to respond to. Wimbledon is a great example, as players aim to hit into the body as many times as possible in a game because players are not able to react quickly enough to the incoming body serve.

In this drill, the player serves to the body from the deuce side and finishes with a deep backhand cross-court. Many solid returners hit most of the returns to the backhand side so the player has to be able to take control of the point with this shot.
