DESCRIPTION

This is a basic 2 v 2 drill to allow players to progress from a simple 2 v 1.

In a channel no wider than 10m, 2 attackers have 5 attempts to score a try on the red cones.

The attackers try to create space and beat the defenders by running good support and holding lines.

COACHING POINTS

2 attackers initially take a running line away from each other (out lines)

ball carrier to commit the opposition's defender and create/maintain space between the 2 defenders.

The support player runners out to initially take his opposite mark out before changing running line to inside the defender and calling for the pass.

support player should stay deep in order to bring the defender up quicker, thus causing the defender to over commit

timing of pass and change of direction is crucial. It is important for the players to look for their 'cue'
