Netball: Full arm push to wall (left)

I have thoroughly enjoyed using your site to help me with my coaching...
Donna, Coach

DESCRIPTION

Starting position

  • 3ft to 4ft from wall
  • feet hip distance apart
  • ball held in the palm of left hand with the hand behind the ball
  • arm held at right angles to the body so ball is at head height and to the left side of the body

  • Movement
  • just using the arm, push the ball towards the wall
  • follow through towards the wall with right arm
  • flick with the wrist to give that extra push
  • as the ball returns to the left hand, bring the arm back so the ball is controlled back to the starting position
  • COACHING POINTS

  • the quicker the follow through, the quicker the ball will return to your hand
  • by adding a flick with the wrist, this pushes the ball faster ensuring a more powerful push of the ball
  • as confidence and power builds, ask players to move further away from the wall
