The GK has a back line pass. The Centre takes up her position just in middle of transverse line giving the impression she is not going to be involved in this immediate passage of play... but SHE IS!
The WD and GD roll away to opposite directions (taking their chasing opponents with them) leaving huge space for the centre to drive into receiving the ball at the top of the circle.
The centre, remembering to use the 3rs (receive, rotate and release) passes to the WD, who passes to the GD. Again the ball has progressed from defence to attack over 2/3rds of the court in 3 "simple" passes.
Please note as the player clears out this should be a jog and DRIVE into to receive the pass.
Drill these two defensive set plays until they are fine tuned.
We are looking to improve our knowledge of set plays. Use the principles of the 3Rs, straight line balls and impeccable timing.
It can be done but it has to be drilled in your training session.
