Hockey: Round the Gate

DESCRIPTION

2 Players, 1 ball. They have to pass the ball through the gate to their partner who, on receiving the ball has to 1st touch the ball wide of either the left or right cone. Then with his/her 2nd touch, pass the ball back.

COACHING POINTS

  • Make sure players stay behind the cones.
  • To go right play ball next to body
  • To go to left play ball infront of body

    first touch | Passing & Receiving

    first touch:

    2 players one ball.

    Player passes the ball to the other player who has to first touch the ball into a passing position on the other side of the cone and passes the ball back to the other player.

    Run Around | Passing & Receiving

    Run Around:

    After one of the players has passed the ball to the player next to them, they have to run all the way around to try and get back to their place before the ball does.

    Forehand to Forehand | Passing & Receiving

    Forehand to Forehand:

    Players pass and control ball on stick, forehand to forehand.

    Ball is not allowed to bounce off the stick.

    Distribution under Pressure | Passing & Receiving

    Distribution under Pressure:

    1 Player passes the ball to the player through the cones then follows it to put pressure on the receiver. The receiver has to try and pass the ball to the player left or right, and then follows the ball to take that players position. The second player receiving the ball runs back to the start.
