Handball: triple task libero in 3:2:1 defence

Pass B-A-B-C-B. A goes to defending position after passing to B and defends 1:1 against B. A and B change positions after duel.

Blue 1 is the feeder in this drill and alternates the pass left-right. Upon receiving the pass blue 2 runs forward and duels with the defender (red 2). Red 1 is libero (spare defender) and moves to cover and help to keep the attacker out in case of emergency. Repeat on other side. After 4 attacks each players rotate 1 position in a clock-wise direction.

This 3:2:1 defence gets an overlaod to defend. Two pivots and all the backcourt players should be defended.

The centre block of the 3:2:1 defence tries to prevent the attackers from scoring goals.

The blue players are trying to pass the ball through to the pivot (white 1). At the same time though the red players are working hard to block this pass. The aim for the red players is to run forward and touch their back court player before running back quickly to defend any passes to the pivot. After they have been touched blue players pass the ball to a player in the opposite line and they then run to the back of the other line. Drill continues in this way.

Passes from B/C to B and back. Defenders 1 and 4 pretend to be late tackling B and C and have to block the shots of B and C. Libero 2 blocks together with 1 and 4. defender 3 closes the gap a bit and prevents the passes from B and c to D

Use this conditioned game on a half court with your team. The defending side will have 6 players plus a goalkeeper and the attackers 6 (no goalkeeper). Depending on how much time you have you can use each of the variations below for 5 minutes at a time before changing the conditions for goalscoring. Only the pivot (blue 6) may score. Only the wing players (blues 1 and 5) can score. Players may only score after completing 10 passes.

Blue player 1 tries to get past the red defender. If they succeed in losing their man then the attacker should have a shot on goal.

Attackers :- blue 3 passes to blue 2 who comes forward to throw- blue 3 steps backwards to screen for blue 2- blue 4 screens defender white 4How to defend this- Defender white 2 works together with goalkeeper and is responsible for blocking left side of the goal.- White 4 pretends he is going to attack blue 2.- Defender white 3 can break through the sreen to step forward to blue 2.

Pass 3-2-4 and pass to incoming 5. 
Aim of the game is defend the incoming 5 wing player.

 Blue 1 : steps a bit forward and accompanies/touching attacker 5.
 Blue 4 takes over and brings wing 5 to center defender blue 1. and takes over the defence of pivot green 1. Defender blue 2 and 3 step forward to their own attackers .

Pass 3-2-4 and pass to incoming 5. Aim of the game is defend the incoming 5 wing player. Blue 1 : steps a bit forward and accompanies/touching attacker 5. Blue 4 takes over and brings wing 5 to center defender blue 1. Defender blue 2 and 3 step forward to their own attackers .

The defender has to solve two problems: 1. Pass A-B-C pass to pivot F who tries to catch the ball and throw at the goal. Defender G tries to defend. Immediately after this situation: 2. Pass A to B who makes a goalshot from 9 metres. Defender G has to block the goalshot.

A-B-C-D pass to pivot F who tries to catch the ball and throw at the goal. After the pass they sprint around one of the cones. Then they go in search for the ball and take a new position. A to B, B to C, C to D, D, E, E to A etc  

1. A-B-C pass to pivot F who tries to catch the ball and throw at the goal. 2. Pass A to B who chooses to pass to the pivot or give a pass to C who passes to the pivot.

Pass A to B and back. B tries to get past 1. Pass to C if B cannot break through.

Pass A to B and back. B tries to get past 1. Libero 3 helps out. Pass to C if B cannot break through.

Pass A to B and back. B tries to get past 1. Libero 3 helps out. Pass to D if B cannot break through. Libero prevents pass to D. Pass to C if pass to D and break through are prevented.

In this drill blue 2 is the feeder (devil's advocate). Their job is to pass the ball in between the defender and the attacker on both sides of the court. Whoever is first to the ball must pass the ball back to the feeder and return to their starting point.

Blue player 1 tries to get past the first red defender. If they succeed in losing their man then the second defender should come across to close the space and shut off the blue player's route to goal.

The attacking players take it in turns to forward and take on the defender. They are not trying to score, instead all they are trying to do is get past them through use of change of pace and speed. Players should continue to try and get past the defender for at few seconds - if they are unable to get past they should then run across to the other side of the court before joining the back of the other queue.
