DESCRIPTIONThere are two triangles in this drill, both using the same top point player (player 5).
Players in the top triangle pass in an anti-clockwise direction and players in the lower triangle pass in a clock-wise direction.
Both pairs of players must use the middle player as their third passing option.
COACHING POINTSCommunication!

The player with the ball must run around the cone and then try to score a goal in the defender's side goal by dribbling the ball across the line. This will score them a point.
The defenders have to try and force the player to run across their own goal line or tackle them and run the ball over the line themselves.
The winner is the first team to 3 goals. After this you can swap the roles around, with the attackers now defending and vice versa.
COACHING POINTSThe defensive player should be patient and not commit themselves too easily or else they may give away an easy goal to the attacking side.
The defenders should stay low and try not to cross over their feet but shuffle and shadow using fast feet.
Day 05
December 5th

December 8th
Using the overlap to create goal scoring opportunities
This Sportplan Session looks at how you can get your players using the overlap to create the extra man and create more goal scoring opportunities!Running overlaps is reminiscent of the football that was pioneered by Ajax, between 1969-1973, and the Dutch national side, in the 1974 World Cup in West Germany. This style of play operates on the basis that any player can overlap and move taking the position of another one as they move forwards (or backwards).
We're not going quite that far in this session but what we are working on is getting players to continue their forward runs after they've played the pass to a team-mate in front of them. There are two things that happens when players do this:
- The player on the ball has an excellent attacking pass option that they can now use.
- The run itself will pull defenders out of position and create space for the on the ball player to run into.
Help your team to overlap to continue their attack! Use this session with your team today!
Day 09
December 9th
Alligators Alley
DESCRIPTIONDivide the group into teams of 4. One player in goal, two defenders and one attacker. The defenders (Alligators) have adopt a crab position (belly up, hands and feet on the floor) and start in the middle of the grid.
The attackers must try to dribble around the alligators and score a goal.
COACHING POINTS- Run with the ball by pushing it with your laces.
- Keep your head up while dribbling.
- As a defender approaches, change direction ans speed up into the space to his side.
Day 10
December 10th
Playing From The Back
DESCRIPTIONPlay 5 v 5 +1 goalkeeper at each end. Only defending players and goalkeepers are allowed in the end zones. The game is started by the coach playing the ball into an end zone.
The object of the game is for the team to score with a shot on the opposite goal. A defensive player receives the ball from the goalkeeper at the top of the diagram. The defenders must attempt to pass the ball around the area until an opportunity arises to play the ball forward to the lone striker. Defenders and midfield players must then push forward toward the opposing goal line in support of the attack. Defenders and midfield players should retain position until they are able to play the ball forward without fear of losing possession.
Progression: Take away end zone areas.COACHING POINTS- Play from the back, not at the back.
- Pass to midfield players with a call of hold or turn.
- Play to midfield player then support at an angle.
- Play backwards to go forwards whenever necessary.

Then the player from the other team runs into the centre square to receive the ball and turn to pass the ball through the gate top their partner.
First team to score 10 goals.
Day 12
December 12th
Defending the Midfield
DESCRIPTIONPlay 2 v 2 in the area furthest from goal and 2 v 3 in the defensive area around the goal. Make 2 small goals on the end line for the defense to play out through.
The attacking team (gold) in the area furthest from the goal, combine to play the ball into the two attackers in the opposite area. The two defenders in the area furthest from the goal attempt to intercept passes as they are played through. The three defenders in the defensive area must pressure the ball, marking tightly when close to the ball or goal. Defenders from the area furthest from the goal may enter iinto the defensive area to support the three defenders and to serve as midfield players for clearances from the back. If defenders intercept the ball, they should attempt to play the ball through either of the small goals at the bottom of the diagram.COACHING POINTS- Midfield players must track forward runners.
- If playing a flat back three, make sure they push up together.
- Keep play in front of you in defense--force it across the goal and make it predictable.
- As a back three, can we apply pressure, support and balance.

Passing Accuracy - Ole Ole Ole Session
Whether it's the start of the season or the latter stages of the league players always need to work on their passing precision and touch. That's why this session works on your players' passing accuracy to make sure passes are hit with enough power and that they reach their intended recipient... every time! When you watch the best teams and hear the crowd chanting Ole for every completed pass you can almost see the frustration in their opponents as they're unable to regain the ball and are forced to chase around the field - tiring themselves out in the process!
To get your team playing confident Ole-passing football to frustrate their opponents this Sportplan session works on your players' control, passing consistency and power.
All the exercises in this session can be used by players of all abilities, you can choose to challenge more experienced players by increasing the passing distance, increasing the element of accuracy required or by reducing the sizes of the passing gates.
Watch your players carve through oppositions in the next match, with their new passing confidence and incorporate these drills into your pre-match warm up routine.
Day 16

When a runner runs to a disc that is occupied, the player occupying the disc must move off the disc and look for another disc to occupy. If a player is tagged by a catcher, the 2 players exchange roles.
You can choose to introduce a ball so that players must dribble around the area.
