How to spice up your training sessions!

The cold wet and windy weather probably makes it the toughest time of year to be a coach! Now is often make or break time in the season and therefore it's essential to keep your players engaged at training, and more importantly, keep them coming back!

So you need to plan for this period - make training FUN and not just running in channels - make your coaching motivating and purposeful not just shouting louder. Make the players have more ownership of what they want to do, give them the option of which direction to take.

London Irish use different balls to develop skills

London Irish have adopted the same philosophy and you can see from the video clip above the benefits this style of coaching has. Try and work out how many different techniques and systems are being worked on in the conditioned game.

Eddie Jones uses the same game & footballs

The golden thread for creative attacking play is "Quick ball", without it defences get themselves organised and stifle your play. If your players can deliver fast ball your moves and patterns will cause opponents endless problems.

Games are used to practise in chaos where the conditions are always variable and players have to reat accordingly and play "Heads Up" rugby.

This approach and this game can be used by coaches who coach all age groups and at all levels of the game.

We hope you enjoy the clips we provide and please let us know if you would like to set up your club or school, it promotes consistent messages and coaching practices across your organisation.
